About the Role: Aurizon Network Asset Management are looking for a high performing Senior Engineer to join the Structures Assets team.
As the Senior Engineer in the Structures Team, you will lead the Asset Management of primarily Bridge and Culvert Structures throughout the Central Queensland Coal Network (CQCN). The role offers an exciting challenge, with over 300 bridge and 3000 culvert assets to manage across 4 railway systems, spanning from Bowen to Gladstone along the coast, and inland from Clermont to Moura.
In the role you will report to and work alongside the Structures Assets Team Leader, strategizing and prioritising bridge and culvert renewals/replacement. You will also work alongside the Structures Works Coordinators to provide guidance and prioritise the delivery of structural repairs, maintenance works and emergency holding works.
You will work closely with both the Design Management and Program Management Teams to achieve best for business outcomes from design through to delivery of renewal construction works, balancing track access, cost and scope.
You can expect to spend around 25% of your time in the field, travelling throughout the Network, inspecting structures to assess the condition, defects, failure modes and requirements of the assets you manage. The remaining time will be a blend of office-based and remote work.
In the role you will:
Provide professional leadership and high-level expertise in the asset management of civil structures. Develop and analyse asset data reports to make informed strategic asset management decisions. Influence the greater business to implement desired outcomes to best manage the assets. Provide technical assessment of structures and apply a risk-based approach to asset management. Develop new and improve existing processes to assist with asset management decision making. Develop and improve written documents including strategies, standards, policies and guidelines. Develop and manage the structures renewal program and manage change to the program in the year of delivery and year of planning. About You: You will have a strong background in Civil and/or Structural Engineering, in Design, Construction and/or Asset Management, with the ability to apply your expertise practically in an operational environment.
Qualifications and Experience: Bachelor of Civil Engineering or equivalent (Mandatory). 5-10+ years' engineering experience in a Civil or Structural Engineering role (Mandatory). Registered professional engineer under the Professional Engineer's Act of Queensland (RPEQ), or ability to obtain registration within 12 months (Mandatory). A background in and knowledge of Rail Track Infrastructure (Desirable). Specific Skills: Possess a strong knowledge of infrastructure operations, design, construction, maintenance and safety standards and specifications relating to culverts and bridges, primarily reinforced and prestressed concrete. Ability to communicate effectively to consult, negotiate and influence at all levels. High level of skill in application of an ensuring compliance with legislation, regulation, and practices regarding safety, environment, and engineering. High level of skill in the preparation and review of written documents such as standards, specifications, policies, guidelines and processes. Possess a high level of business and commercial acumen.
