Role Overview: As a Senior Power System Engineer, you will play a critical role in delivering high-quality power engineering solutions. You will be responsible for conducting specialized network analysis and performance standard studies for large loads and generators within the Australian Energy Market Operator (AEMO) framework. This position is ideal for engineers who have experience in similar markets and are looking to bring their expertise to a new and exciting environment in Australia.
Key Responsibilities: Power Engineering: Carry out general professional power engineering activities including analysis and design for high and low voltage power assets in utility, generation and large industrial settings to Australian and International standards.Power System Analysis: Perform detailed power system studies, including load flow, fault level, stability, and transient analysis in both RMS and EMT environments.Performance Standards Compliance: Carry out performance standard studies to ensure compliance with AER rules and regulations for large loads and generators.Technical Advisory: Provide expert technical advice on network connection applications, network impact assessments, and system performance optimization.Project Management: Able to manage self and others and deliver multiple projects concurrently, ensuring they meet client expectations, timelines, and budget requirements.Client Engagement: Work closely with the Blackstart directors and clients to understand their needs, provide solutions, and maintain strong, long-term relationships.Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams within the company, including commercial, regulatory, and environmental specialists, to deliver integrated solutions.Mentorship: Support the development of junior engineers through mentorship and technical guidance.Innovation: Stay current with emerging technologies and methodologies in power systems engineering and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the company.Qualifications: Education: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field; a Master's degree or higher is an advantage.Registration: Eligibility for Registered Professional Engineer, Queensland with the Board of Professional Engineers, Queensland, and/or the National Professional Engineers Register, Australia.Experience: Five to eight years of experience in power system engineering, with a focus on network analysis and performance standards. Experience within the Australian, UK, North America, or European energy markets is highly desirable.Technical Skills: Proficiency in power system analysis software (e.g., PSS/E, PSCAD, PowerFactory) and a strong understanding of electrical power systems, including generation, transmission, and distribution.Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with AEMO guidelines and the AER's National Electricity Rules (NER) in Australia, or equivalent regulatory frameworks in other regions.Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex technical information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a track record of providing innovative solutions to complex engineering challenges. #J-18808-Ljbffr
