We have four permanent appointments available, one in our Cannington Supply team (00000074), one based in our Bunbury Supply team (00016530), and two in our Cannington Utilisation team (00016299, 00016887). The role Senior Electrical Inspector's undertake complex and sensitive regulatory and technical activities to ensure compliance with relevant Acts and Regulations as a designated inspector (Electricity) authorised under the Energy Coordination Act 1994.

As the Senior Electrical Inspector, you will be part of a great team working together and being responsible for coordinating and undertaking investigations of fatalities, traumatic accidents, and serious accidents.

You will coordinate and undertake investigations of fatalities, traumatic and serious incidents/accidents, and breaches of legislation, whilst also inspecting electrical installations across the State, provide advice and information to management, government investigators and families of seriously injured or deceased persons. You will prepare detailed investigation reports and present evidence in courts when required to enforce electrical safety legislation, in accordance with Directorate procedures.

You will also undertake major audits of network operators' consumer installation inspection systems, network operators' supply systems and work practices, and identify emerging issues to improve electrical, technical and safety performance. This includes recommending legislative or other changes and applying these to industry sector or organisations.

You will be able to share your knowledge by providing advice and information to management, government investigators and families affected by serious accidents. You will also have the opportunity to share your industry knowledge with other inspectors by participating in the mentoring, coaching, and training process.

You are the ideal candidate if you are a licensed 'Electrician' with substantial experience in electrical supervision and electrical inspection. You will also need to demonstrate highly developed analytical, problem solving and project management skills, with an ability to mentor and coach other Inspectors when required.

Exceptional communication and organisational skills, well-developed leadership, training, coaching and assessment skills, will be the key to your success. A natural tendency to display safety orientated focus and risk aversion, with an ability to solve problems and offer solutions, is also required within this role.

While this selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancies, it may also be used to fill other similar vacancies (permanent, fixed-term, full-time or part-time) within the department for the next 12 months.

Three positions are available based in our Cannington Office. Two positions are with the Utilisation Branch team and oner in the Supply Branch team. One position is available based in the Bunbury Office. It is preferred that Supply Branch inspectors have network experience on LV and HV distribution and transmission systems.

One position is based in Bunbury, located in the South-West region of Western Australia. Bunbury is one of WA's port cities, which offers a beautiful place to live, work and visit and has something for everyone. All positions require you to participate in inspections in remote or regional areas, as such, you must have the flexibility to travel within the State.

Which position you are interested in (Bunbury or Cannington). Unrestricted electrical worker's licence endorsed "Electrician". Certificate IV in Government Investigations or an ability to demonstrate a sound knowledge of investigation practices. Substantial experience in carrying out all types of electrical work, in electrical supervision and electrical inspection activities.
