You have the power to shape things to make them better.About the RoleWe currently have an opportunity for a suitably qualified and experienced Senior Electrical Engineer for the Switchyard at Portland Aluminium. This is a permanent position, working Monday through to Friday.The Senior Electrical Engineer is part of the Metals team and is responsible for:The safe and efficient management, maintenance, and operation of the high voltage switchyards, potline rectifier stations, and high and low voltage systems at the Portland Smelter ensuring continuous supply of power to the plant.Supporting operations and maintenance, and finding solutions that maximise the performance of equipment, reduce costs, and improve environmental, health, and safety performance.Identifying long-term opportunities for improvement through a focus on applying reliability engineering principles and standards to equipment and capital.Your role will be challenging and diverse! It will require a strong customer focus with contribution to:Leading, empowering, and encouraging the electrical engineering team to develop their knowledge and abilities.Supporting and delivering a high level of equipment reliability and performance vital to achieving the organisation's production, cost, and quality objectives.Providing engineering expertise, business knowledge, and personal capabilities to support the location.Developing work scopes for major equipment repairs using fitness for service approaches, improving equipment management strategies using a suite of reliability approaches.Optimising production by applying reliability engineering principles to equipment performance and providing solutions to equipment-based problems through failure and root cause analysis techniques.Taking on a consulting and advising role in the area of Regulatory Changes and Compliance requirements.Lastly but just as importantly; safety leadership to our people and processes.Leading a team of electrical professionals and tradespeople.What's on offerCareer development opportunities to pursue your passionMonthly Leisure Day Benefits allowancePerformance related bonus (variable)16 weeks paid parental leave schemePaid annual volunteer hoursSocial and diversity focused engagement opportunitiesWhat you can bring to the roleA Bachelor of Electrical EngineeringQualified in and experienced with HV SwitchingPrevious experience in Maintenance, Reliability or Plant Engineering is highly regardedA proven commitment to Environment, Health and SafetyThe ability to influence and communicate at all levels of the organisationHigh self-motivation with a desire to learn new skills, and impart knowledge on othersExperience in pro-active problem solving with the use of initiative and be a catalyst to continuously improve business performance within a dynamic team environment!DisclaimerPlease note that applications close midday Australian Western Standard Time of the posting end date.
