About the role
Queensland Rail is partnering with the Department of Transport and Main Roads to deliver its Queensland Train Manufacturing Program (QTMP.) The program includes the design and manufacture of 65 new trains to cater for the growing demand for rail services within Southeast Queensland. The new trains will be manufactured and maintained in Queensland thus creating jobs in the rail industry and associated supply chains.
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Electrical Engineer to join the rolling stock technical team to support the design, development, and delivery of cutting-edge train systems. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to a transformative project that will enhance the public transportation network across Queensland.
This is a fixed term for 4 years based in Brisbane CBD, with a starting salary of $148,000.
This position is based in Brisbane CBD and can be offered with a relocation package to support/ cover the cost of travelling, rental, furniture and other costs associated with an interstate move. Day-to-day responsibilities of this role will include
• Undertake technical assurance activities, including design reviews, to ensure compliance with Queensland Rail and industry standards and safety regulations.
• Participate in design collaboration meetings with the State and rolling stock contractor to ensure alignment on technical specifications and project goals.
• Provide input into test schedules and witness type testing of prototype vehicles.
• Liaise with Queensland Rail Operations to ensure the operational requirements of the train are understood and incorporated into the design.
• Participate in risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies to address potential engineering challenges.
About you
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Strong understanding of rolling stock Electrical systems, manufacturing processes and testing.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to make data-driven decisions.
• Demonstrated experience in communicating and negotiating with contractors to achieve optimal project outcomes.
