As the Senior Locomotive Control System Engineer, you manage the operational, compliance and innovation requirements across full asset life cycle for the entire Aurizon Locomotive Fleet. This fleet runs Australia-wide and consists of an impressive 700+ locomotives and 15,000+ wagons – over $2 Billion in asset value!
We're having a big impact on the interoperability of the Australian Railway industry, by challenging the status quo with new technology, competitive fleet strategies and diverse operating environments. We also have a close eye on the future of rail (and decarbonisation) and we're continuing to look at how we better leverage opportunities as we continue to lead the industry with our approach and application of technology.
This position reports into the Locomotive Engineering Leader and is a key role for the entire organisation providing guidance, governance and future direction for the sustained motive power required by the Aurizon business. This role provides leadership for locomotive technical direction including standards, specifications, operational processes and ensures engineering outputs are consistent with legislative requirements. Drawing from industry experience this position provides key management of OEM and aftermarket service provider technical provision for life of asset support.

In respects to the technicalities, you'll need: Bachelor of Electrical/Electronics Engineering or equivalent (mandatory). Registered professional engineer under the Professional Engineer's Act of Queensland (mandatory). 10+ years experience in control system integration. Demonstrated successful project/task execution. Proficient stakeholder communication skills. Pragmatic and positive approach. About Aurizon Aurizon is Australia's largest rail freight operator; we have a diverse rollingstock fleet that consists of 500+ locomotives and 14,000 wagons. Aurizon also manages an extensive truck transport fleet and services 3 Aurizon owned Ports with extensive fixed plant and equipment.
Each year, we transport more than 250 million tonnes of Australian commodities, connecting miners, primary producers, and industry with international and domestic markets.
