As a key contributor, you will play a vital role in supporting and enhancing our clients' critical HV infrastructure across various locations, including regional and remote areas.
Your ability to deliver innovative solutions and excel in dynamic environments will be instrumental in ensuring the success of our projects.Position Description:Lead and mentor teams in protection relay testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting.Prepare comprehensive scopes of work, detailed cost estimates, checklists, and technical specifications for new projects to ensure alignment with customer expectations and successful execution.Develop, plan, and coordinate project schedules and activities: Collaborate with project teams to ensure tasks are aligned, resources are effectively managed, and project deliverables are achieved on time and within scope.Design and optimize processes to improve testing efficiency and system reliability.Address complex technical challenges, adapting quickly to onsite variables, and delivering solutions under tight deadlines.Advanced testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting of protection relays across diverse applications, including transmission, generation, distribution, and industrial systems.Protection relay programming, setting calculations, and dynamic testing for optimal system performance.In-depth understanding of electrical theory with specialization in advanced protection systems, including Line Protection, Transformer Protection, Generator Protection, Busbar Protection, Motor Protection, Feeder Protection, and complex differential protection schemes.Expert-level interpretation and analysis of complex schematic diagrams and wiring layouts for high-voltage protection systems.Proficient in secondary injection testing and commissioning for a wide range of relay brands, such as ABB, Siemens Siprotec, GE Multilin, Areva P Series, and SEL Series.Advanced primary injection testing of CTs, VTs, bus zone differentials, transformer differentials, and restricted earth fault systems.Development, implementation, and validation of complex relay logic and protection schemes, ensuring seamless system integration.Strong understanding and application of Substation Automation Systems, with expertise in IEC 61850, GOOSE messaging, and system interoperability.Highly skilled in the use of Omicron test equipment and associated software, including advanced operation of CMC356, CPC100, and Relay Test Suite for comprehensive protection system testing.Familiarity with emerging trends in high-voltage protection technologies and standards, ensuring compliance and leveraging innovations for improved system performance.Skills and ExperienceTo be considered for this Senior Electrical Engineer role, you will need:Educational Qualifications and experience:Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field (mandatory).Minimum 10+ years of previous work experience.Technical Expertise:High level of project management and technical ability across the electrical discipline.Extensive experience in testing and commissioning a wide range of protection relays (essential).Advanced expertise in using Omicron test equipment and associated software (essential).Deep knowledge and hands-on experience with primary injection testing methods and procedures.Extensive HV and LV switchboard commissioning and testing experience, including troubleshooting complex systems.Proven track record in circuit breaker, CT, VT, and busbar testing.Comprehensive understanding and interpretation of schematic drawings and electrical protection schemes, including complex designs.Specialist Experience:GIS Switchgear experience, with OEM training (highly regarded but not essential).Advanced transformer testing and commissioning experience, including diagnostic testing such as SFRA and DGA analysis.Experience managing and troubleshooting technical challenges during high-pressure shutdown periods.Leadership and Soft Skills:Demonstrated ability to mentor and train junior engineers and technicians.Excellent problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to technical issues.Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, including the ability to liaise effectively with clients and project teams.Self-motivated with the ability to lead projects independently or as part of a multidisciplinary team.Licences and Certifications:Current Electrical Licence (desired, not essential).Nationally recognised High Voltage Switching Ticket (desired, not essential).Current Driver's Licence (mandatory).Additional Attributes:Familiarity with industry standards, regulations, and compliance in high-voltage engineering.Experience in managing or contributing to complex testing and commissioning projects.Proficiency in digital tools and software for data analysis and reporting.Note: Only shortlisted Candidates will be contacted.
