The Editorial team plays a pivotal role in crafting the Foundation's circular economy narrative across a range of perspectives, from materials and industries to pressing global challenges such as climate change and biodiversity loss. In collaboration with teams within the Foundation, we develop ground-breaking reports, papers, articles, and other content to engage and inform diverse policy, business, and public audiences. You will be responsible for narrative development and thought-leadership output at a project level. The role has a key focus on shaping and delivering insight publications for a variety of internal and external audiences, in line with the Foundation's strategic objectives.

You will help to ensure that our publications meet the highest standards of quality and play a vital role in inspiring global change.

Reporting to our Editorial Lead, your main responsibilities will be as follows: Editorial Vision and Planning Supporting the delivery of major editorial projects across all areas of the Foundation, ensuring that editorial content is delivered on time and is of the highest quality. Ensuring that key processes are adhered to across the team to maintain robust structures for the delivery of editorial content. Regularly updating workflow tools to support accurate project management and capacity planning. Completing a range of core administrative tasks in line with the delivery of the editorial strategy and content, e.g. reviewing metrics, meeting with key contacts, updating documentation, sharing relevant material. Narrative and Thought Leadership Developing narrative and circular economy framing for the Foundation's projects. Producing editorial content that delivers the Foundation's narrative and thought leadership to a range of internal and external audiences. Developing knowledge through informal research to support the Foundation's thought leadership work. Editorial Content Development Providing end-to-end editorial expertise (story lining, structural editing, narrative and line editing, proofreading) to programme teams across the Foundation, particularly through the development of a range of thought leadership content. Briefing and liaising with external contacts including freelance writers, proofreaders and editors and media organisations as needed. Originating and providing expertise and guidance on short- and long-form written content for dissemination across the Foundation's publication channels and external media outlets, as appropriate. Developing compelling storytelling concepts and pitching ideas for content. Cohesiveness, Collaboration, and Communication Acting as liaison with key teams in the Foundation to provide editorial support across a range of strategic documents, e.g. funding proposals, white papers, OpEds, etc. Liaising as needed with the Foundation's communications, digital, design, and learning teams in relation to the creation and publication of editorial content. Quality Assurance Ensuring all content is aligned with the Foundation's circular economy framing, messaging, and house style. Supporting the creation of key quality control documentation, e.g. Editorial Style Guide. Developing an awareness of key metrics to assess the impact of editorial content. Skills Sharing and Development Acting as mentor to others in the Foundation on writing skills (e.g. techniques for reports and articles, how to write to convince) and on the CE framing and canon of Foundation content. Contributing to the dissemination of this expertise more widely in the Foundation, both through active skills sharing and through key documentation, e.g. Editorial Style Guide and Tone of Voice guidelines.
Your profile 3-5 years relevant work experience including editorial and copywriting skills. Previous experience in a writing-related role in journalism, business, government, NGO, or research is desirable. Experience of planning and managing writing projects with tight timelines and competing priorities, ideally for a range of audiences. Proven ability to storyline complex concepts and large amounts of information in highly structured forms. Excellent writing skills: ability to produce well-structured, clear, concise copy. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment that values rigour, detail-orientation, and an analytical mindset. Ability and willingness to learn and communicate the thinking behind the circular economy. Some knowledge and understanding of the current circular economy debate and associated media landscape is desirable.

What we do The Ellen MacArthur Foundation develops and promotes the idea of a circular economy. We work with, and inspire, business, academia, policymakers, and institutions to mobilise systems solutions at scale, globally. Our mission is to accelerate the transition to a circular economy.
Our vision is a new economic system that delivers better outcomes for people and the environment. Business models, products, and materials are designed to increase use and reuse, replicating the balance of the natural world, where nothing becomes waste, and everything has value. A circular economy, increasingly built on renewable energy and materials, is distributed, diverse, and inclusive.
Our commitment to you We are keen to receive applications from people from underrepresented backgrounds, including (but not limited to) those of colour, people with disabilities, people who identify as LGBTQIA+, and people from other marginalised groups. It is important to us that our recruitment approach makes the opportunity as accessible as possible and ensures a diverse range of people are able to demonstrate their potential.
