SENIOR EDITOR Insight Publications is a leading educational publisher currently seeking a part or full time Senior Editor with a minimum of 5 years' experience to join their dynamic team in Cheltenham, Victoria.This position offers an opportunity for the right applicant to work closely and collaboratively with all members of the Publishing, Marketing, Communications, Editing and Financial team. The Senior Editor will provide integral support to the Publishing department by providing a high standard of developmental and copyediting services. They will also provide support by fully coordinating and managing all responsibilities for publications through to the printing stage. Hybrid working arrangements can be negotiated.Responsibilities include:Demonstrate an extremely high standard of editing and writing skillsEnsure that publications are accurately edited for structure and style, with the accurate application of design elementsWorking to specific deadlinesOversee and manage the work of junior members of the publishing teamLiaise with stakeholders and contributors including overseeing the work of other editors, proofreaders and designersDevelop briefs for writers, editors, designers, proofreaders, illustrators, reviewers and other service providersManage all administrative activities relating to projectsLiaise with other departments to keep them apprised of key dates and other important informationCommunicate professionally with customers and stakeholders, including teachers, parents, booksellers and curriculum bodies.You will have:Bachelor's degree in writing, editing, English, Literature or a related field. Postgraduate qualification in the above is desirable.A proven track record of managing and completing projects in an educational publishing houseExcellent verbal and communication skillsKnowledge and expertise in all phases of book developmentProject management experienceKnowledge of editing trends, on-screen editing and multimedia publicationsUnderstanding of writing processes for different purposes and different audiencesAttention to detail.The applicant will have exceptional experience editing in Microsoft Word. An understanding of Adobe Indesign would be desirable.
