They will develop clear and compelling evidence-based recommendations for a broad range of policy issues affecting Victorian communities and businesses.Responsibilities:Undertake economic and statistical analysis to provide expert advice on a range of policy issues.Develop fit-for-purpose modelling and data outputs within tight timeframes, meeting user specifications and expectations.Clearly communicate the process, results, and policy implications of modelling or data analysis to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.Actively lead and participate in research and analysis work, as well as reporting of major strategic initiatives or issues relating to service delivery.The TeamThe position of Senior Economist/Analyst forms a part of the Data and Analytics branch within the Economic Policy, Projects and Coordination group. This group brings together specialist skills in economics, modelling, data and evaluation to support all groups across the department to deliver on their priorities. Data and Analytics works with diverse clients across DJSIR by providing robust and timely quantitative analysis as well as improving quantitative capabilities to support policy priorities, such as housing affordability, liveability and jobs growth.About YouThe successful candidate will ideally have the following skills and experience:Statistical analysis:
Demonstrated technical expertise in data manipulation and statistical analysis.Conceptual and analytical ability:
