We are seeking a Senior Ecologist to join our team and partner with a diverse range of stakeholders, while enjoying the support of passionate leaders, ongoing professional development opportunities, and all the resources you need to succeed.
Working with an energetic and high performing team, this position offers a variety of work and will see you involved in: Working on local, national and international projects to identify, assess and monitor ecological values, particularly within the markets of Defence, Future Energy, Future Water and Future Communities.Leading field surveys for baseline ecological assessments, targeted threatened flora and fauna species surveys, long-term flora and fauna monitoring, and assessment of environmental offsets through ecological surveys.Identifying ecological impacts, developing avoidance and mitigation plans, assessing significant impact assessment in accordance with guidelines, and developing biodiversity offset solutions.Leading the delivery of proposals, technical reports, and managing projects, while maintaining client and regulatory relationships.Mentoring and training junior staff.What you will bring to the team: 8-10 years plus of professional experience in either a consulting environment or Local/State Government with tertiary qualifications in ecology, zoology, natural resource management or a related discipline.Experience in biodiversity impact assessment and offsetting, with accreditation (or working towards) to apply the SA Native Vegetation Council (NVC) Accreditation.Proven skills in ecological assessment, monitoring, evaluation, reporting, botanical survey, and vegetation management.Proficient in flora and fauna species identification, plant community type mapping, and identifying threatened ecological communities.Well-developed knowledge of SA and Commonwealth regulatory frameworks and policies, along with the ability to build rapport with stakeholders and mentor junior team members.Team player with a problem solving focus and can-do attitude.Must have a valid Australian drivers license.SA Native Vegetation Council Accreditation is desirable.Ability to obtain or possess a Defence Clearance is also desirable.Interested?
