Are you driven to make a difference? As a Senior Ecologist in the Queensland Herbarium and Biodiversity Science team you will lead, develop and manage strategic species distribution modelling to inform Bioregional Planning for Queensland, and provide specialist scientific and technical advice as part of a multidisciplinary scientific team.
As the Senior Ecologist you will: Lead and undertake the development of species distribution modelling for Queensland's priority species under both current and future climates for the purposes of informing bioregional planning.Lead the development of regionally representative species lists that capture the biodiversity values within priority bioregional planning regions.Develop and deliver high quality, scientifically defensible models, mapping and reporting tools that include quantitative and statistical analysis and/or visualisation of data and results.Provide technical guidance, expertise, support, and ecological advice to stakeholders to collaboratively design and deliver species distribution modelling, mapping and analysis products.Establish and maintain networks and collaborative partnerships with internal and external clients and a range of stakeholders relevant to the work program.Represent DESI in professional and scientific forums related to bioregional planning, species distribution modelling and priority species conservation and provide advice as required to DESI managers, other government departments, industry and the general public.Foster a workplace culture that supports and promotes the interests of First Nations people and actively engage through our work to contribute to better outcomes for First Nations people.Qualifications
To be eligible for employment in this position, you must hold a Degree in Ecology, Environmental Science, Conservation Biology or agreed equivalent.
Licences
It is a mandatory requirement for the occupant of this position to hold an unrestricted manual driver's licence.
