Senior Drill & Blast Engineer

We are seeking an experienced mining engineer with extensive experience in drill & blast to support various projects located at site and Brisbane office. As a drill & blast engineer, you will play a key role in supporting the development of an executable plan, identifying risk and opportunities, and communicating the operating strategy without compromising on quality and sustainability, whilst maximizing productivity.

Job Description:Support various mining projects from both site and office locations.Engage in safety leadership and awareness both internally and when working with clients.Assess every aspect of safety related to drill & blast plans before the plan is proposed to the operations team.Produce optimal drill and blast design and production plans.Ensure drill and blast designs provide optimal fragmentation.Work closely with other technical services engineers to ensure Drill & Blast schedules align with short and medium term mine plan activities.Undertake drill and blast related project studies and investigations.Champion operational quality control, and review Q/A data, digging rates, and blast videos.Oversee blasting consumables to control budget and cost.Introduce innovative drill and blast engineering techniques and products.Develop strong working relations with the operations team and site contractors.Willing to work on site on a regular roster as required by the client.Key Requirements:At least a Bachelor Degree in Mining Engineering, or higher qualification.Minimum 7 years experience working in Open Cut coal mining, including at least 5 years on-site experience in Drill & Blast.Strong written and verbal communication skills.Proficiency in mine software such as Vulcan or other mine design software, blast design, and experience with Power BI and BlastLogic.The role will require frequent travel to site as required by the client.
