About the opportunity:
Reporting to the Lead Design Drafter within Humes Technical Services, this is an exciting role in which you will prepare and deliver high-quality engineering drawings for precast concrete elements using AutoCAD software.
This role is integral to manufacturing, product and project work undertaken by Humes throughout Australia.
Detailed responsibilities include:
Lead drafting projects documenting engineering shop drawings for precast reinforced concrete elements, ensuring drawings are completed with accuracy and delivered within set deadlines, and are suitable for manufacture.
Actively manage priorities and timelines for multiple projects, ensuring efficient workflow and timely responses to project requirements.
Overseeing drafting standards and the creation of drafting templates for products.
Enhance library components such as Dynamic Blocks (as required).
Leading and modelling best practice in AutoCAD to act as an exemplar for more junior staff.
A high level of proficiency with AutoCAD working in a team environment along with a willingness to grow knowledge and expertise.
Work on the development of new products (as required).
Carry out independent drafting checks on other drafters' work as part of the team's QA processes.
Mentor and support junior drafting staff in improving their skills and in maintaining high standards for timeliness and responsiveness.
Engage with internal engineers, factory staff, and external stakeholders to proactively address project needs and communicate progress.
Review work and processes regularly to drive improvements in turnaround time while maintaining quality.
Ensure clear communication and responsiveness to queries, ensuring project bottlenecks are minimized and resolved swiftly.
About you:
Qualifications equivalent to an Advanced Diploma from a Technical College.
Tertiary Qualifications desirable but not essential.
Drafting experience in Structural/Precast.
Expertise in AutoCAD, and other software as required for this role.
Demonstrated ability to train and mentor more junior drafters in drafting standards and CAD software, to assist in raising the skills of other team members.
Excellent communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills.
A strong work ethic and the ability to work effectively within a team.
Ability to prioritise work to meet competing deadlines.
