Senior Director – Parks and Partnerships
Full-time Temporary with a Possibility of PermanencyDetails: The ACT Parks and Conservation Service is seeking an exceptional leader to undertake the role of Senior Director Parks and Partnerships. This position will oversee the operations for the Territory's National Parks, Nature Reserves and visitor centres including the delivery of the offsets, visitor experience, and ParkCare programs. Parks and Partnerships includes approximately 160 FTE along with an operational budget of over $10m. This position is supported by a great team of experienced staff. The occupant of the position will be expected to:
Lead and manage the operations of the Parks and Partnerships section delivering programs and projects to time and budget;Lead and motivate staff through promoting a Values-based approach to a positive workplace culture, staff health, safety and well-being, workplace diversity, Industrial democracy, and personal development and training;Oversee improved operational planning and coordination across operational teams within the Section;Lead the planning, monitoring, reporting and evaluation of conservation areas and the protection of matters of National Environmental Significance created through environmental offsetsDevelop and implement natural resource management, conservation land management programs, and asset maintenance, and coordinate the delivery of best practice on ground services for Canberra's reserve areas;Facilitate visitor and community engagement programs that foster appropriate visitation within our parks and reserves;Lead and promote effective partnerships with external stakeholders including the Ngunnawal community, conservation Trust partners and ParkCare volunteers;Contribute to the strategic management of the branch as a member of the Senior Management Team;Represent the Directorate and Branch and establish, develop and maintain positive partnerships and relationships with key external bodies, including other ACT Government agencies, stakeholders, community organisations, commercial enterprises and interstate counterparts;Undertake incident management duties, including participation in fire standby, fire suppression and fire training;Work within an Activity Based Working Environment; andUnderstand and work within the ACTPS Code of Conduct and ACTPS values of respect, integrity, collaboration and innovation, and model behaviour consistent with the ACTPS Respect Equity and Diversity framework.Eligibility/Other Requirements: Tertiary qualifications in natural resource management or environmental management or other relevant field is essential.Registration under the Working with Vulnerable People (Background Checking) Act 2011 is mandatory for this position.Notes: This position is initially available for six months with the possibility of extension up to 12 months and/or permanency. An order of merit will be established from this selection process and may be used to fill future identical vacancies over the next 12 months.
