The Garvan Research Foundation was founded in 1981 and is the fundraising and marketing arm of the Institute, raising awareness and vital funds from individuals, trusts and foundations and corporate and community groups.The Foundation's income has grown from a fundraising base of $110,000 in its first year to more than $47 million in 2023 – approximately half of the Institute's total income.
The remarkable success of the Foundation's activities is having a catalytic impact on our researchers' ability to make scientific contributions that will ultimately lead to earlier diagnosis, better treatments and prevention or cure of a range of diseases.THE OPPORTUNITY

The Senior Digital Marketing Coordinator is a key role in the Marketing and Communications team, supporting the digital marketing operations of the Garvan Research Foundation and wider Institute.
The role will work closely with multiple teams and stakeholders to innovate and optimise the digital marketing aspects of the donor journey and Garvan brand messaging, while also identifying growth opportunities and providing insights into digital marketing results and recommendations for continuous improvements and learnings.The successful candidate will demonstrate digital marketing expertise, with particular focus on email marketing.
They will leverage the subject matter expertise of various stakeholders and their own content knowledge and digital marketing skills to make digital marketing assets compelling, audience-led, engaging and on-brand.Salary:

$75,000 + 11.5% super + salary packaging (depending on experience)Employment Type:

This role reports to the Senior Content Officer in the Marketing stream and works closely with the Digital Marketing Officer (website and campaigns), within the broader Marketing and Communications team.The key responsibilities include:Plan and execute digital marketing campaigns from start to finish including set up, A/B testing and analysis, including monthly eNews and targeted marketing and fundraising campaigns, and internal and other brand communications.Plan and execute digital donor journey automations with an audience-centric and strategic focus.Act as the gatekeeper of email communication, data set up and brand templates.Plan, collate, write, edit and repurpose content, suitable for email communication that is engaging and actionable and supports channel-specific digital integrated marketing plans.Work closely with the Data team regularly to review all donor journeys to ensure consistency and integration/accuracy of reporting across all platforms.Support the Marketing and Communications Officer and the Senior Content Coordinator to develop an email marketing strategy/plan as part of the overall digital marketing strategy.Produce monthly digital marketing reports, providing analysis, evaluation and insight of eDM activity against goals, and recommend areas for improvement.Share insights and recommendations where marketing strategies can be enhanced by latest email marketing technologies and tactics.Work with colleagues to drive optimisation strategies for strong digital campaign performance that will improve click through and conversion rates.Show initiative, creativity and innovation in a supportive environment.ABOUT YOU

The key skills and experience include:Tertiary qualifications in communications, marketing, digital or equivalent experience3+ years' proven track record in digital marketing (with focus on email marketing platforms), preferably with experience in fundraising or not-for-profits.Demonstrated ability to edit and repurpose compelling and engaging email marketing content and to turn complex scientific subject matter into digital savvy copy that informs and educates the Institute's supporters, while promoting the Institute's broad array of scientific research.Strong understanding of digital marketing platforms, trends and best practice.Strong understanding of data and eDM metrics, and ability to track, report and increase performance.Excellent verbal and written communication skills; and the ability to clearly and effectively articulate thoughts and ideas.Ability to self-manage and work autonomously; demonstrated success in balancing competing priorities while supporting a wider team.Good analytical skills and the ability to interpret, draw conclusions, and identify opportunities from data.Basic knowledge of web development technologies like HTML and CSS for email templates and content management.Understanding of other digital and social channels, including Facebook advertising campaign set-up, targeting and reporting.Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Cloud, Mailchimp (or other email marketing platforms) and good understanding of Google Analytics.Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work well with other teams but also work independently to execute tasks.Experience in not-for-profits would be advantageous (not essential).ABOUT GARVAN
