About the Role (your why) The Senior DevOps Engineer role is responsible for guiding and implementing automation initiatives, dealing with software development, operations and services. This role involves performing hands-on automation tasks, in areas including software development, operations, and services. The Senior DevOps Engineer is responsible for improving communication, collaboration and integration between software developers and IT operations personnel.
What you'll do Delivering an "automation first" culture to enhance customer experience and to ensure continued relevance and financial viability.Enhancing the Datacom managed services solutions by applying an 'automate where possible' approach.Uplifting automation and delivery maturity across Datacom leveraging agile/DevOps methodologies.Actively identify and support the automation of labour-intensive repetitive tasks using the abovementioned Datacom automation frameworks.Contributing to automation roadmaps in conjunction with the Architecture, Tools, Automation and Planning group guidelines and standards and execute within identified milestones.Influencing architectural decisions, implementing, and managing core infrastructure, developing internal tools, and looking to automate as many processes as possible.Working with, leading, and guiding other engineers in the execution of uplifts across build engineering, release engineering, configuration management and environment management practices.Performing hands-on automation tasks to treat infrastructure as code.Assisting engineers to automate the process of testing various software and minimize errors.Participating in and/or leading code and design reviews.Providing execution of activities related to infrastructure, security, continuous integration, continuous deployment, IT operations and metrics.Collaborating with other System Administrators, Developers, Testers, Architects and Business Analysts.Collaborating with operations and development teams to mitigate the risks associated with the product life-cycle and improve the overall scalability and reliability of the application.What you'll bring Knowledge of the outsourced IT services market and infrastructure project requirements.Strong knowledge of various software and performance monitoring techniques.Strong financial management practices with a clear understanding of the relationship between costs, utilisation, and project revenue.Working knowledge of common systems monitoring and alerting tools.Working knowledge of common build, release, and deployment tools.Knowledge of competing product offerings.Experience promoting the benefits of implementing DevOps methodologies in an organization and making sure that the IT professionals are well-trained to implement these changes.Experience in maintaining the end-to-end production chain for smooth deliveries.Experience using automation tools.Experience with a variety of programming and scripting languages.Proven experience with modern build, release, and development tools or orchestration expertise in provisioning, private and public cloud, preferably with experience in AWS and Azure automation.Ability to frequently interact and network with a variety of stakeholders and team members within own area of expertise.Proficient with modern DevOps Tools and utilities.Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.Strong presentation and report writing skills.Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong consultative and planning skills.Excellent customer relationship building and management skills.Strong influencing and persuasive ability.Ability to escalate with a solution focus.Ability to communicate technical concepts and align them with client business goals and objectives.Why join us here at Datacom?
