The Opportunity

We now have an exciting opportunity available for a Senior Development Pipeline Engineer to join us in Brisbane or Melbourne on a full-time permanent basis. Reporting to the Team Lead – Bid Support, you will lead the pipeline design for Concept and Develop phase opportunities providing input to Project scope and cost estimates. This exciting role will support upcoming scopes in Gas Transmission and Future Energy (mainly around re-purposing of existing pipelines for alternative fuels).
You will be part of a dynamic team that is at the front end of taking opportunities and transitioning those to major engineering projects and programs.
Key Responsibilities Lead and participate as an integral member of a design team as a Senior Pipeline Engineer for APA's growth projects. Prepare front end engineering design documentation including calculations and optimisation of pipeline design outputs (including wall thickness, pipeline assemblies stress analysis, fracture toughness, fatigue, road crossing, penetration resistance, hydrotest etc.). Fracture Control Plan, Pipeline Isolation Plan, Material Take off, technical specifications, reports, drawings etc. Ensure engineering and design documentation prepared by APA, external engineering service providers, or vendors meets project/stakeholder requirements, statutory and licence requirements, applicable APA, Australian and international standards, in particular AS2885. Consider project specific requirements at concept and develop level of maturity for line pipe procurement, induction bends, MIJ, pipeline valves, pipeline high strength fittings, pipeline inspection and coating, desktop geotech investigation, desktop Pipeline Route Surveys. Develop project specific venting and isolation philosophies for assigned concept and develop projects. Your Background Demonstrated experience within the gas industry with design exposure. Tertiary qualification in Mechanical or Civil Engineering admitting to corporate membership of the Institution of Engineers, Australia or equivalent (Required). Chartered or Registered Professional Engineer (Preferred and eligible for admission). Working knowledge of gas industry equipment such as valves, actuators or pipe traps etc. Knowledge of hydrogen pipeline design to ASME B31.12 (Preferred but not essential), experience with Carbon Dioxide and Ammonia is favourable. Knowledge and practical use of Australian and International Pipeline and related design Standards (AS2885, ASME B31.3, B31.8, and B31.12). Must have knowledge and exposure to associated Australian and International reference standards. Knowledge and practical use of Australian and International Equipment and related Standards (API 6D, API 5L, AS 3862).
