As a Senior Planner, you will also have the potential to act up in a manager's role.Benefits of Working at WaverleyStaff social club, weekly yoga and other fun staff activitiesYearly flu shots, skin checks and annual health and wellbeing fairDiscounted gym membership through Fitness PassportFlexible working conditions, family friendly policies and other great employee benefitsPotential for splitting work hours between office and 'work from home'Great team and culture.The DA Planner Role:Managing enquiries related to application submissions and regulatory processesConducting inspections to ensure compliance with approved development conditionsPreparing and presenting reports and written correspondence for both internal and public audiencesCollaborating with senior planners and contributing to ongoing policy developmentMaintaining accurate records and adhering to the Council's standards for safety and environmental management.The Senior Planner Role (in addition to the role of the DA Planner):Offering expert planning advice to the communityOverseeing the assessment and determination of development applicationsMentoring and providing support to a team of development assessment staffCollaborating with the Development Assessment Section to improve and enhance the development assessment service, systems and processesLeading the day-to-day activities of a Development Assessment Team.About YouTertiary Qualifications/ at degree level in Town Planning, Architecture, Urban Design or equivalent field.Experience (a minimum of 2 years for DA Planners and a minimum of 6 years for Senior Planners) in the Town or Urban Planning industry or related preferably in local government and in NSW).Sound experience in development assessment and urban design assessment and analysis.In-depth knowledge of the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act, 1979, and other relevant legislation and regulations.Negotiation and conflict resolution skills, including the ability to mediate outcomes and liaise with community focus/precinct groups.Well-developed skills in the assessment and resolution of complex planning, heritage and urban design issues associated with major development applications.Ability to meet strict deadlines and to balance and respond flexibly to competing priorities.Excellent written and oral communication, report writing, presentation, computer and administrative skills.Refer to the position descriptions for detailed information on each position and required skills and experience.
