About the Victorian School Building Authority The Victorian School Building Authority (VSBA) oversees Victoria's largest school building program.
The VSBA upgrades and expands existing schools and plans, designs, and builds new schools to meet enrolment demand.
About the Division The Corporate Division provides corporate support to all VSBA teams and fulfills an important assurance and oversight role.
About the Role Reporting to the Manager, the Senior Developer - Database will be responsible for designing, developing, building, implementing, and supporting Business Intelligence (BI) and Data Warehouse solutions within VSBA.
Key Responsibilities: Work closely with the team lead to create optimal physical data models of datasets.Act as a point of contact for VSBA staff requiring BI and report writing assistance.Provide technical expertise within the Business Systems Unit.Develop and maintain metadata information including data dictionaries and data lineage maps.Establish and nurture productive relationships essential for delivering outcomes.Offer expert advice on asset data concepts and contribute as a subject matter expert.Contribute to the development and implementation of VSBA's reporting database.Identify data gaps and lead the development of new data sources.Extract, transform, and load data from multiple sources into a central data warehouse.Provide advice and recommendations regarding data and systems.Utilise strong conceptual and analytical skills.Independently analyse problems and demonstrate excellent communication skills.Attributes Data Modeling Expertise: Strong experience in designing and developing data models.Database Design: Proficient in designing databases and optimizing their performance.Data Analysis: Ability to analyze business requirements.Normalization and Denormalization: Strong knowledge of database normalization techniques.Data Governance: Familiarity with data governance practices.Technical Proficiency: Strong SQL skills.Documentation: Ability to create comprehensive data documentation.Problem-Solving: Skilled in identifying data issues and resolving them.Communication Skills: Ability to communicate complex data structures clearly.Desirable Qualifications and Experience Relevant tertiary qualification in Information Technology.Advanced knowledge of information technology.Proficiency in reporting tools like MS SQL Server and Power BI.Experience in developing metadata information.Experience in scenario modelling of datasets.Proven ability to enhance data quality and streamline processes.Proven ability to document business requirements.Further Information For more details regarding this position, please see the attached position description for the capabilities to address in application.
