The Strategic Communication and Engagement (SCE) branch is responsible for the department's corporate communications, sponsorship and events as well as media and social media. Services provided by SCE ensures that the department has a strategic corporate communications framework and consistent approach to engaging with schools, members of the community, the media, business, and other government agencies. We are seeking an experienced AO5 Senior Designer for a permanent role in our Design and Production team.
Your role provides graphic design services for all areas of the department, executing creative solutions for publications and promotional products across print and electronic media. You will provide expert advice to project teams on all aspects of design and production that ensures adherence to Queensland Government Corporate Identity and departmental publishing standards.
About the Role:
The Senior Designer reports to the Director, Partnerships and Marketing, Strategic Communication and Engagement Branch, People, Information and Communication Services Division.
As our Senior Designer, you will:
Provide creative graphic design solutions for departmental communication projects, ensuring they meet objectives while working within the parameters of the Queensland Government Corporate Identity and the Department's Visual Style Guide.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge and skills in graphic design for contemporary publishing and marketing platforms such as social media, animation and video graphics.
Manage the production of design projects including quotations, ensuring that all activities meet deadlines and have cost-effective outcomes.
Support the graphic design team by providing expert design and production advice and assist in managing the competing priorities of workloads in the section.
Advise the department on all aspects of design and production, including the selection of appropriate communication tools, templates, publishing processes and procedures, timelines and scheduling and the correct application of the Queensland Government Corporate Identity and the Department's Visual Style Guide.
Maintain relationships with external organisations when outsourcing the production of printing, graphic design, illustration, photography, video and animation ensuring the quality of these services.
Support the Manager, Design and Production with day-to-day operations by maintaining processes that ensure a high standard and delivery of products and client service from the design team.
Contribute to the management of production resources such as computer hardware, software and photo libraries.
Responsibilities include:

Advise the department on all aspects of design and production, including publishing processes and procedures.
Maintain good relationships with external organisations and suppliers.
