We have an opportunity for a Senior Design Manager to join the team. This role will be based in Stockland's Sydney Head Offices working on Multi Residential projects (including projects in other states) and may require travel to achieve all relevant requirements of the role. The Opportunity In this position, you will work with project management, cost planning and internal design team, to provide support in the delivery of world class projects through exceptional design practices across major multi-residential projects. You will provide support across the full lifecycle of projects from inception through to completion. You will be responsible for facilitating effective design delivery across all design disciplines to get the best outcomes for the project, and to maximise value and minimise risk. Key Responsibilities Will Include: Build strong relationships within the Project Management Team and with internal business partners including the Development Team to ensure projects are delivered within the agreed financial, design and delivery criteria. Directly manage relationships with key stakeholder groups including internal stakeholders, designers, contractors, consultants and approval authorities to achieve required business outcomes and in a manner that enhances the image and reputation of Stockland as a market leader. Establish partnering relationships with relevant contractors, consultants and suppliers to facilitate cost, value and/ or program efficiencies to Stockland. Ensure the full appraisal of design options and facilitate proactive identification of value-add design and innovation in collaboration with the full project team while maintaining the design intent and fostering an environment for design excellence. Manage and coordinate all stakeholders' expectations to ensure the cost planning and design management team can successfully deliver development projects. Manage the design process encompassing commercial, contractual, programme and technical expertise. Communicate, collaborate and share knowledge across business units to ensure consistent approach and understanding of procedures both vertically and horizontally. Implementation and development of design and project briefs. Implementation of best design practices with reference to legislation, NCC requirements, Australian Standards, safety in design, and Stockland design and quality guidelines. Implementation and development of ESD principles in line with Stockland's commitment to sustainability including for Green Star and WELL. About You Degree qualifications in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management or similar. Demonstrated experience in design management with comprehensive understanding of cost planning construction management, due diligence, project controls and risk assessment. Experience in major multi-residential and/or mixed-use projects is highly desirable. Demonstrated experience in the delivery of major projects is otherwise essential. Understanding of building technology and construction methodologies as an essential element of building design. Demonstrated experience and accountability in delivering cost effective design outcomes on major projects. Extensive experience working with and managing external stakeholders including local authorities and consultants. Extensive experience as the lead consultant in leading design teams from concept through to construction documentation. Ability to influence, encourage and inspire consultants to bring their best to a project. Strong Environmentally Sustainable Design and Innovation and Technology credentials including an understanding of the NCC and Australian Standards. Demonstrated ability in managing numerous projects at any point in time with a wide range of value/complexity.
