Tier 2 builder is looking for a Senior Design Manager / Head of Design to join the business.
Our client is seeking an experienced and highly skilled Senior Design Manager / Head of Design to join their growing and successful business.
This is a senior role overseeing a team and supporting on-site Design Managers. You will form part of the leadership team and be involved in the strategy of the business.
Ideal sector experience: Education, Health & Commercial.
Must have: Sydney Tier 1 or 2 commercial construction experience for a number of years.
Responsibilities:
Manage and oversee the pre-construction design activities across multiple construction projects. Collaborate with clients, project managers, architects, engineers, and contractors to ensure the projects will run timely and cost-effectively. Review project specifications and contracts to identify design requirements and constraints. Advise on project design schedules and budgets. Ensure compliance with project specifications, contracts, and applicable regulations. Advise on buildability and methodology. Monitor project progress and update senior management on key milestones and potential issues. Identify and resolve design-related issues and escalate issues to senior management as needed. Ensure that project design records and documents are accurate and up-to-date. Provide regular updates to senior management on project design status, including potential risks and opportunities. Manage the design process, including design development, design review, and design approval. Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in architecture, construction management or engineering. 8+ years of experience in design management in the construction industry. Experience working on large-scale construction projects from $80m upwards. Experience managing a team. Excellent organizational and time management skills. Strong leadership and communication skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Knowledge of construction project management tools and software. Understanding of construction contracts and regulatory requirements.
