The role specialises in complex underground lines cables and systems for sub-transmission and complex distribution networks in substation & external environments. Advanced knowledge of substations, electrical earthing, distribution networks and public lighting assets – engineering design & construction is desirable.
As an Underground Cabling Systems subject matter expert and leader to a team of engineers & designers, you will provide Registered Professional Engineer of Queensland (RPEQ) professional engineering advice, direction, and supervision.
As the leader of a design team, you will be responsible for developing, coaching and moulding a high-performing team as you provide specialised engineering design activities for the delivery of the Integrated Works Program. In addition to this, you will also be responsible for the day-to-day management duties of this team, including but not limited to monitoring of staff well-being, project delivery and compliance.
Your day-to-day will be varied with unique challenges as you tackle a variety of interesting projects. Liaise with a variety of key internal and external stakeholders, prepare specialist engineering reports/studies, provide technical advice and support, estimation preparation and approval, safety leadership activities and compliance, resource planning and allocation.
With flexi-working and a 9- or 10-day fortnight in place, the bottom of the salary band starts from $176,846 for 9 days and $199,836 for 10 days. The level of payment will be subject to an assessment of the successful applicant's knowledge, skills and competencies that are required in this position. Conditions of employment are in accordance with the Energy Queensland Union Collective Agreement 2024.
About you: Important to the success of your role is your:
Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering acceptable for membership of Engineers Australia in the Professional Engineering category.Registered Professional Engineer of Queensland (RPEQ) (or eligibility to obtain) in the field of electrical engineering, with competency to complete underground design works is essential.Demonstrated expert technical knowledge and experience in the design principles and practices construction, and maintenance required for transmission, sub-transmission, distribution and communication lines engineering, with an advanced knowledge of the associated civil and structural requirements.Expert knowledge of underground Line construction and installation requirements, including substation interfaces, maintenance and operation of substation plant and equipment, and earthing systems.Demonstrated ability to lead a team, providing technical leadership, support and guidance for the development of others.Ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with customers and stakeholders.Demonstrated expert knowledge and experience in engineering calculations and analysis techniques relevant to the role, including use of specialist software. Working knowledge of CymCap or similar cable system rating engineering software and principles is advantageous.Ability to determine and specify materials, analyse quotes and inspect materials for underground transmission, sub-transmission, and special distribution projects.What matters most to us is our values, We're Safe – We Belong - We Grow - We Deliver.
