ABOUT THE ROLE: Seatransport are seeking to employ a full-time Senior Design Draftsperson with marine shipbuilding and structural experience. You will work as a part of a small design team on all aspects of a new vessel design from concept to delivery for a diverse range of commercial marine projects.
This position is located on the Gold Coast.
Responsibilities will include: Develop detailed 2D and 3D CAD drawings and models for vessels, structural components, and mechanical systems. Collaborate with naval architects and engineers to ensure designs meet performance, safety, and regulatory standards. Review and interpret project specifications, design briefs, and technical documentation. Assist in the preparation of design documentation, including assembly instructions, material specifications, and bill of materials (BOM). Perform design revisions and updates based on feedback from the engineering team and client requirements. Ensure all drawings and designs adhere to relevant industry codes, regulations, and standards. Mentor junior designers and drafts people and work experience candidates and provide guidance on best practices. About You: Have a minimum of 5 years of design and drafting experience within the marine or shipbuilding industry. Relevant qualification is desirable. Are proficient in both 2D & 3D CAD software such as AUTOCAD & Rhino 3D. Are familiar with regulatory standards for ship design and construction. Have excellent attention to detail and the ability to work to tight deadlines. Have strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. Experienced in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Project). Have effective communication skills, both written and verbal. ABOUT THE COMPANY: Seatransport, as part of the Sea Transport Group of companies, designs and supports construction of ferries and unique cargo ships. The company head office is located in northern Gold Coast, QLD. Other company activities in the group include port development, ferry operations, bulk cargo transhipment, and ship leasing.
