As a Senior Data Scientist within the Decision Science Home Buying Modelling Team, you will assist in the development and management of models supporting the Home Buying Business.

This role involves leading and mentoring a team of Data Scientists and statistical modelling professionals to navigate the business and deliver high quality modelling outcomes within the Home Loan space.

You will work closely with key stakeholders, such as the Portfolio teams, Finance and Group to ensure regulatory and business insights are accurate and are in alignment to the strategic direction of the business.

The Chief Data and Analytics Office (CDAO) team is responsible for leading the delivery of world-class data, analytics and technology capabilities to improve the financial well-being of our customers and communities.

The Decision Science Home Buying Modelling team within CDAO supports the Home Buying business modelling needs through the development and maintenance of predictive models, creating insights to enable business decision making at a strategic and tactical level. These models help support E2E product performance of all the retail home loan products, including pricing, credit risk and portfolio protection.

Key Responsibilities:

You will be responsible for the development and management of key modelling assets within the team, with an objective to foster a team vision and approach that utilises state of the art data science and statistical techniques to outperform the market with regards to credit risk origination and portfolio management.

You will be expected to drive higher quality/efficient use of data through continuous process improvements.
Supporting the Senior Manager in Home Buying Modelling, in providing analytical and modelling support for the development and monitoring of models for RBS Home Buying BusinessUtilise data science and modelling techniques in Python or R to drive model development to solve key business problems for the Home Buying portfolio.Mentor and guide junior data scientists in the team to deliver projects and outcomes for the businessGather requirements from non-technical stakeholders and translate or interpret these into data science problemsPresent solutions to senior business and non-technical stakeholdersDevelop and enhance the application, behavioural models and operational models across credit risk, pricing, marketing and operations to create and drive value for the Home Buying businessDevelop working relationships and collaborate with Finance, RBS Portfolio Teams, and Group Stress Testing teams.Drive value through timely delivery of industry leading statistical models that solve identified business issues for Home Loans and are fully compliant with all required policies and governance.Collaborate with key business areas, including Product and Pricing, Line 1 risk and Credit risk to provide implementable modelling/analytical solutions and insights that drive profitable growth and productivity.Work closely with colleagues in the broader modelling analytics community to create a centre of excellence We are interested in hearing from people who: Can build, develop and deploy ML and AI solutions to drive business decisions and outcomes.Are adept with leading data science and AI projects independently, owning the end-to-end process from data collection to model deployment.Can apply Gen AI, NLP, Computer Vison, Deep Learning, advanced statistical and ML predictive modelling techniques to develop and implement scalable AI solutions, ensuring accuracy and reliability of models.Can collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and execution of data science projects, ensuring alignment with business objectives.Are experienced in working with large and complex data within a corporate environment and automating processes.Have a natural talent to communicate and positively influence diverse and large group of stakeholders and cross-functional teams. Tech Skills:

We use a broad range of tools, languages, and frameworks. We don't expect you to know them all but experience or exposure to any one of them or other equivalent tools in ML and statistical modelling will set you up for success in this role.
Solid foundational experience leading projects within Data Science, ML models and AI within a financial services organization or an equivalent large-scale environment.Strong hands-on coding and ability to write modular and optimized code using Python( R Knowledge preferred but not required) and SQL.Experience in developing, building and deploying advanced statistical and ML predictive models to implement scalable solutions, including LLM (Large Language Models) and Generative AI (e.g., Open-source models & GTP's, RAG, Guardrails for fairness, privacy)Innate ability to identify, analyse and prioritise opportunities to expand Data Science capability and think ahead of curve to bring forth AI solutions with greatest impact.Curious and innovative mindset blended with pragmatic thinking.Bachelor's degree Or Master's degree Or Ph.D. in Data Science, Machine Learning, Computer Science, Computational Linguistics, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, Physics.
