About the RoleThe Senior Data Engineer is a key subject matter leader in the data management team reporting to the Data Management Lead.
The goal of the function is to deliver the TZV transformation program data outcomes in accordance with the agreed scope, budget, timeframe, and quality. The incumbent should be an experienced technical leader and data program delivery expert. The role will be expected to leverage TZV's Project Management Framework to achieve project and program objectives.
The purpose of the role is to deliver the Data Engineering components of the TZV data program as per the Next Generation CAD project, ICT Strategy, and funded Technology Roadmap.
Day-to-day responsibilities include:
Lead Data Engineering and data modeling efforts for the Next Generation Transformation Program (NGC), ensuring accuracy and efficiency in data exchange with TZV and emergency service systems.Develop and manage data pipelines for data migration and management, contributing to system integrations, API services, and seamless data processing across platforms.Design and implement scalable APIs for real-time and batch data workflows, supporting the data migration strategy and providing expert guidance on data models (Conceptual, Logical, Physical).Support the establishment of TZV Data Modeling initiatives, including the development of data glossaries, dictionaries, and catalogs, while driving data profiling and modeling activities.Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to enhance data capabilities and integration across TZV, ensuring alignment with technology deliverables and broader business priorities.Advise senior leadership on complex technical issues, facilitate knowledge transfer to transition data and integration capabilities to Business-as-Usual (BAU), and drive stakeholder engagement for optimal outcomes.About YouAs the Senior Data Engineer, you will ideally have experience in Data Engineering and Data Modelling initiatives as part of a data capability uplift, in addition to the following skills and experience:
Tertiary qualification in Computer Science, Business Systems, IT, Data Analytics, or related field, with substantial experience in Data Engineering.Master's/Doctorate in Data Engineering, management, or analytics, with experience in improving data and information management for organizational benefits.Extensive experience in Data Engineering for large-scale system migrations, particularly for mission-critical data workloads.Proven experience in Data Architecture and Data Modeling initiatives, including designing and implementing data capability enhancements.In-depth experience with large data migration programs, including data cleansing, anonymization, archiving, and decommissioning, and developing migration plans for mission-critical data sets.Expertise in data modeling standards, tools, and best practices, with hands-on experience in developing conceptual/logical data models, data profiling, and engaging with system integrators/vendors on complex data migrations.What We Can Offer YouYou will be supporting a critical service to the Victorian community and will be rewarded with a competitive salary, flexible working arrangements, and employee benefits including:
