Your Part in Our Mission: The Senior Data Engineer is responsible for making data available and digestible across the company. They proactively ingest, maintain data integrity and synthesize large volumes of data into actionable insights meaningful to the business. Additionally, they partner closely with product and marketing stakeholders to gather data requirements for projects and work with engineering colleagues to implement solutions for defining, documenting, QA-ing and making accessible data points to the business.
The Senior Data Engineer participates in all phases of the analytical lifecycle, from problem definition to sharing findings and providing the business with data-backed suggestions (in partnership with data analyst). They will formulate and apply modeling techniques ranging from basic descriptive statistics to more advanced diagnostic analytics to assist the business with problem-solving, and decision-making.
The Senior Data Engineer is a key component of the analytics and data engineering function in the company. They are the analytics experts for their colleagues and are tasked to educate and empower their colleagues to apply evidence-driven processes to prioritize projects, experiment, and iterate on learnings. This person will work remotely from Australia with a North American Team. What You'll Be Doing… Own the data platform & data pipeline for our team End-to-End, to ensure robustness and traceability of our data
Work closely with our development team to ensure the business has full visibility into new and existing features and can confidently make decisions based off of them
Take over and scale our DBT set up to transform and optimize our analytics pipeline while developing testing scripts to ensure data accuracy.
Take over our BI visualization platform setup to design, build, and maintain dashboards to automate reporting and analyses that assist all departments while creating an opportunity for self-servicing the majority of their BI data needs.
Perform Ad-hoc analyses when necessary to help business stakeholders understand Tinybeans' data and identify areas of opportunity.
Maintain comprehensive and easily-understood documentation around our analytics and reporting
Identify, assess, fix, document, consult and communicate quality issues in the way data is collected, stored, processed, or used
Increase data literacy in the company and keep up with the latest data-management technologies to continuously evaluate paid or open-source tools that will improve the efficiency of our data platform and data processes

6 +years of proven working experience as a Data engineer or Business Data Analyst
Expert-level SQL skills
Experience in working with Snowflake or similar Data Warehousing tools
Experience in working with DBT and Fivetran
Experience in working with Tableau, and/or equivalent tools
Experience in working with Python, Jupyter or similar
Experience or interest in setting-up Infrastructure using AWS, IaC, or Containerization platforms like Terraform, Docker, Kubernetes
Even better if you have…. Experience in Data Governance, Master Data Management, Data Quality implementations/tools, or Data Standardization will
Experience in report automation
Experience building and scaling green field data pipelines historically
Experience with B2C subscription and/or advertising businesses
Location & Hours Preference for Sydney, Australia, alongside CEO (hybrid; office location TBC)
The broader team is based in North America with a concentration on the East Coast. This role will require overlapping business hours (e.g, 6am AEST) and hours/days can be flexed accordingly.
