The department provides policy leadership, plans for the future of education in Victoria and leads key cross-sector collaboration. The department plays an important system steward role by providing support, guidance, oversight and assurance across early childhood and school education systems, as well as directly providing school education and 50 new early learning centres.
About the Division The Performance and Evaluation Division collects, analyses and disseminates high-quality evidence and insights to influence decision making across the Department, government agencies and service providers to improve outcomes for children, young people and adult learners. The Division comprises three branches and operates to deliver a set of connected services to provide the right information to the right people at the right time, including:
Evaluation Practice: Undertake high quality ERC-funded evaluations as the Department's default evaluator.Build across a Department of Education (DE) culture and capacity around evaluation, evaluative thinking, including assisting business areas to scope their evaluation component for budget bids.Produce the Evaluation Plan for Executive Board (EB) and relevant decision makers twice yearly, with whole-of-departmental details about evaluations in the Department of Education.Evidence and Insights Branch: Design, analyse and provide access to place-based early childhood and school education results to inform regional effort, strategy, policy development and investment decisions.Build the capability of Regional and school staff to use and interpret performance reporting products. Provide school level data and reports to support school improvement and school review processes.Support the translation and dissemination of data and analysis to meet DE's evidence needs.Generate and report a more precise and timely analysis and evidence of outcomes for cohorts, including how Victoria's children and young people are faring, with a focus on vulnerable population groups.Performance, Reporting and Data Policy Branch: Monitor and report on the Department's performance against internally and externally set measures and targets, including output performance reporting (BP3), national performance reporting, DE Annual Report, Outcomes Framework, Regional Performance Framework and Education State measures.Develop and refresh key internal and external performance reporting frameworks and provide advice and support in the development of wider Victorian and national frameworks and reporting products.Develop fit for purpose measures and collect data to inform school and public reporting.Manage the collection and use of core data assets pertaining to government school performance.Maintain Business Intelligence enterprise system capability to support data services to internal and external stakeholders undertaken by the Division.About the Role Are you passionate about applying data insights to drive improvement?
