Cyber Security Penetration Tester specialists are responsible for testing and investigating security infrastructure within an organisation. They analyse IT systems to determine configuration weaknesses and faults that could affect security and business.
Penetration Testers/Experts conduct cyber penetration testing and vulnerability assessment activities. They simulate different types of cyber security attacks and develop penetration testing methodologies. They also:
Promote/lead the delivery of flexible, quality service to improve customer experience. Work under the limited/broad direction of senior staff to deliver results. Make ethical, evidence-based decisions using sound judgement. Anticipate and respond/manage stakeholder relationships to ensure positive outcomes. The key duties of the position include: Building/overseeing the execution of test cases using in-depth technical analysis of risks and typical vulnerabilities. Conducting/leading cyber penetration testing, vulnerability assessments and threat simulation activities using relevant tools and methods to identify weaknesses in technical security controls. Providing subject matter expertise to system owners and stakeholders in order to improve system security posture. Contributing to and/or managing a variety of risk analysis and assessments on cyber security matters and undertake research to identify improvements to cyber threat tools, techniques and procedures. Assisting with and/or conducting web application and mobile penetration testing against complex enterprise platforms using a variety of technologies and infrastructure penetration testing against enterprise grade systems. Preparing/reviewing draft reports, briefs and documentation, providing input on technical findings and recommendations. Transferring technical skills and knowledge to other staff through continuous coaching and on-the-job training to support succession planning. Leading and supporting the operations of a team, including setting priorities and managing performance, resources and workflows. Security Clearance level required: Negative Vetting Level 1 (or ability to obtain and maintain).
