The position will work closely with the Family and Community Counselling Services Team and other client services programs within the organisation.
Travel across the region is an expectation of this role, with the office based in Townsville.
SENIOR Counsellor Key Responsibilities: Conduct assessments of clients and develop therapeutic goals, provide consistent, evidence-based, best practice models of counselling to meet the therapy goals.Demonstrate leadership by coaching, mentoring, and motivating team members to achieve program goals.Assist with the induction of new staff and support staff in case conceptualisation and planning.Support and assist the Program Manager as required and take initiative when opportunities exist, including program development and business planning.Work in collaboration with other team members and actively participate in case discussions.Provide counselling and therapeutic interventions to critical referrals for individuals and groups.Prepare and maintain statistical data and provide reports to line manager as appropriate.Participate in program and service planning, review, monitoring, and evaluation activities to ensure efficient, effective, and appropriate service provision.Assist with the development of policies and procedures relevant to counselling.Maintain knowledge and understanding of the application of state and federal legislation relevant to the program.Skills & Requirements: Qualifications: Relevant tertiary degree in Social Work, Psychology, or Behavioural Sciences with a minimum of 3 years of experience.Experience: Understanding of trauma and attachment, with skills in engaging children in therapeutic settings.Cultural Competency: Ability to work sensitively with Aboriginal, Torres Strait Islander, and CALD communities.Compliance: Current driver's license, Working with Children Blue Card, and Disability Worker Screening.ROLE 2: Counsellor – Family and Community Counselling Service Salary: $85,000 – $91,000 (SCHADS Level 4) + Super, 17.5% leave loading, and salary packaging options
