AEMO's System Design division is responsible for planning the power system in the context of unprecedented transformation.
The rapid transition to renewable energy generation and electrification of many sectors has seen sharp rises in proposed transmission connection projects.
Victorian Network Services & Delivery is a Department within AEMO's System Design Division with the key objective to deliver Victorian electricity transmission projects in the long-term interests of consumers.
Critical to the achievement of this objective is program management to support the development and implementation of infrastructure projects to meet those needs.
About the role Working for the Senior Commercial Manager, the Senior Cost Controller will oversee and manage the project cost control function for the Victoria to New South Wales Interconnector West (VNI West) Project.
The successful candidate will support the Project Manager and discipline leads within AEMO and other entities including VicGrid, AEMO contractors and consultants to ensure that projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in accordance with safety and quality standards.
This position will bring a high level of expertise in cost estimation, control, forecasting, analysis, and reporting.
The role will be crucial to assist in developing and implementing project controls systems and processes ensuring successful plan and cost tracking, both within Development phase as well as throughout Delivery.
What you will be doing Plan, analyse, and develop cost reports, forecasts, and budgets Ensure timely, accurate end-of-month cost reporting and project status updates Provide cost management training to stakeholders and perform financial analysis Support contract management and contribute to month-end activities and audits Maintain a strong commitment to safety and collaboration with project stakeholders This position will transfer to VicGrid in approximately 12 months and be part of a growing infrastructure development and delivery organisation, with a pipeline of work that extends beyond 2050.

What you will bring to the role Education/Certificates Tertiary qualification in engineering, finance, or commerce (desirable) coupled with significant experience in construction project costing or accounting.
Familiarity with government decision-making and Victoria's renewable energy landscape (desirable).
Experience and Knowledge Extensive experience in Cost Control, budgeting, and financial tracking Proficient in data, trend, and risk analysis with attention to detail Strong skills in Cost Control systems/software and MS Office Knowledge of Earned Value principles and commercial obligations Experienced in project reporting, cost oversight, and ensuring compliance with legislative provisions Strong communication, relationship building, and safety focus.
