About the Role
Our Senior Cost Controller will play a pivotal role within the Eastern Australia Upstream Project Services Team, with the primary objective of delivering effective program and project control measures from fund approval to total investment and closure.
We are looking for an individual with sharp business acumen and a good eye for detail who will be responsible for contributing to the annual and project capital budget processes for assets and projects supported. You will manage developed budgets, ensuring adherence to financial thresholds and targets.
As part of the role, you will directly support program and project delivery, measuring schedule and cost variances relative to baseline; and highlight key insights, risks, and opportunities for action with the project management team.
Key responsibilities for the role include:

Budget Management: monitor and control developed budgets, ensuring adherence to financial thresholds and targets.
Forecast Management: manage the timely and accurate submission of monthly capital forecasts at the program and project level.
Reporting: prepare and present regular program and project reports to key stakeholders, highlighting key insights, risks, and opportunities.
Controls: maintain and continuously improve key cost controls and procedures including earned value management, estimate to complete (ETC) and estimate at completion (EAC) analysis, internal process audits, accruals, and commitment reviews.
Stakeholder Management: partner with budget, scope, and execution owners to provide insights over performance.
Change, Trend and Risk Management: support the named processes ensuring that scope, schedule, and cost are accounted for, and risk is managed appropriately.
Data Management: manage schedule, capital, and execution data in line with approved cost, operating and work breakdown structures to enable direct comparability across the portfolio.

About You
To be successful in the role you will have a demonstrated ability to deliver effective program and project control. You will have directly supported major project delivery, effectively measuring schedule and cost performance and taking appropriate action with a project management team.
With a focus on long term team development and growth, we are looking for an engaging individual to mentor and work with junior members of the team, ensuring they are guided, supported and educated based on best practice.
Essential experience required for this position includes:

Direct responsibility for managing budgets of more than A$100m AUD p.a.
Proficient in the use of visualisation software (e.g., TIBCO Spotfire, Power BI) and Microsoft Office software.
Proficiency in the use of large project-based systems (PRISM and SAP highly regarded).
Experience supporting non-financial operational personnel, and the ability to communicate clearly and concisely to key stakeholders.
Exposure to managing and distilling large, complex data sets with a heightened attention to detail.
Demonstrated ability to work in a team-based environment.
