About the role Join Origin Energy's legal team and become a pivotal in shaping the future of energy! As a Senior Corporate Lawyer, you'll provide essential advice and support for innovative renewables projects and dynamic upstream oil and gas assets. Dive into a role where you'll offer strategic legal guidance on environmental compliance, manage key approvals, and lead incident response. You'll assess project risks and navigate regulatory approvals for groundbreaking renewables and gas ventures. Additionally, you'll tackle native title and indigenous cultural heritage issues, while ensuring the business stays ahead of regulatory changes. Key Responsibilities
Provide high-quality, client-focused legal services, focusing on upstream gas operations and renewables project development.
Develop a deep understanding of client business units to proactively add value.
Ensure external legal advice is high-quality and commercially focused.
Assist with staff training to minimise legal and regulatory risks.
Manage litigation and regulatory engagements as needed.
What will you bring You will be an Australian qualified and admitted lawyer with 8+ years' PQE. With demonstrated experience in mining, oil, gas, CSG, LNG, renewables, or infrastructure projects. Strong understanding of regulatory law for development and operations, and extensive environmental experience, including approvals and incident management. You will also be able to demonstrate.
Ability negotiating and drafting agreements.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Demonstrated problem-solving skills and ability to handle complexity and variety.
Strong judgment and decision-making abilities.
Influencing skills to tailor strategies for all management levels.
Ability to work autonomously and within a team.
Knowlege of environmental, planning & approvals and cultural heritage law.
In-house experience, including client secondments.
Familiarity with commercial arrangements and contracting in the oil & gas industry and renewables projects.
Experience in managing disputes and regulatory engagements.
Knowledge of safety law.
