Our client is looking for a dynamic and highly skilled Senior Corporate Counsel to join their Legal Team.
If you're ready to take on a pivotal role, this could be the perfect opportunity for you! About the Role: As a Senior Corporate Counsel , you will play a critical role in providing high-quality legal advice primarily in commercial contracts, corporate governance, privacy, and financial services.
Reporting directly to the General Counsel & Company Secretary , you'll collaborate with senior and executive leaders to support significant projects aligned with the company's business strategy.
You'll also have the chance to work autonomously, managing your own matters and engaging directly with key stakeholders.
Although this role does not have direct reports, you will have the opportunity to mentor and guide junior members of the legal team, fostering a collaborative and growth-oriented environment.
Key Responsibilities: Legal Expertise : Offer timely, accurate, and practical legal advice across various departments to support their operations, ensuring compliance with all applicable laws.
Regulatory Compliance : Stay ahead of regulatory changes and advise the business on their impacts.
Commercial Agreements : Negotiate and draft a wide range of commercial agreements.
Risk Management : Collaborate with the Risk Assurance & Compliance team to develop, implement, and monitor compliance programs.
Corporate Governance : Provide company secretarial support to subsidiary companies.
Board Support : Assist with regulatory filings, and support boards of directors.
Training & Development : Prepare and deliver training on legal topics to internal stakeholders to ensure a robust understanding of key legal issues.
What We're Looking For: To thrive in this role, you'll need to bring: 5+ years of post-admission experience in a corporate/commercial legal environment, ideally with a focus on public companies or financial services (credit or insurance).
Strong knowledge of financial services, contracts, intellectual property , and corporate governance.
LLB (or equivalent) qualification.
A degree in commerce or finance is highly desirable.
Eligibility to hold a current Western Australia (or other Australian state/territory) legal practicing certificate.
A graduate qualification in corporate governance (Governance Institute of Australia, Australian Institute of Company Directors) is a plus.
