Salary HEW 8 + 17% Superannuation and Flexible Working Arrangements

Based at the Melbourne CBD campus, but may be required to work and/or be based at other campuses of the University

About The Position

This position offers line management and mentorship for the Equitable Learning Services (ELS) team, consisting of about 9 Advisors and 2 casual staff, dedicated to supporting RMIT students with disabilities in creating tailored Equitable Learning Plans. The coordinator ensures a high standard of advice for both students and educators, oversees a quality evaluation framework, and manages the allocation of complex cases. The role exists in a collaborative leadership team environment, working alongside a peer senior coordinator to share the line management responsibilities and reporting into the Manager Equitable Learning and Accessibility. Other key stakeholders include the Accessibility Coordinator and wider Equity and Inclusion Team. The role fosters continuous improvement through regular team meetings and planning sessions, while coordinating the University's responses to urgent support needs and providing specialised guidance on complex disability matters. Additionally, it monitors service effectiveness through data collection and analysis, sharing insights with management to enhance overall support. To be successful in this position, you'll have:

Demonstrated experience in leading and managing disability services, preferably within a dual sector education environment. Demonstrated experience leading a team that manages complex cases and coordinating the management of communication with all relevant stakeholders. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to foster a collaborative and effective team environment, that positively influences the wider RMIT teams and community. Demonstrated capacity for analytical and conceptual thought in the development of new initiatives; in the diagnosis of problems; and in providing innovative and practical solutions. Demonstrated strong interpersonal and resilience skills, with the ability to role model calmly responding to people under stress/ in distress and de-escalate situations effectively. Demonstrated high level communication skills and report provision. Demonstrated skills in building and maintaining productive relationships with a wide range of stakeholders and groups, employing clear decision-making skills and the ability to work both independently and in a cross-disciplinary team environment. Demonstrated understanding and commitment to diversity, inclusion and reconciliation.
