Role Summary An opportunity is now available for a Senior Consultant with a focus on railway operations for our highly successful national Transport Advisory team based from our Brisbane, Sydney or Melbourne office.
 
Working within our highly regarded Transport Advisory team, you will contribute to the delivery of existing rail operations and strategic projects. With ongoing remits on major projects including Cross River Rail, Logan and Gold Coast Faster Rail, Direct Sunshine Coast and Auckland Light Rail – and with support provided by rail operations capability throughout SNC-Lavalin Atkins globally - there has never been a better time to join our expanding Transport Advisory team.
Key Duties and Responsibilities: Provision of advisory services across light rail, metro, passenger or freight rail or Bus Rapid Transit, including, but not limited to;
Development of Concepts of Operations and associated operational requirements
Rail operational and infrastructure planning
Rail corridor and network capacity analysis
Assessment of network performance, infrastructure and rolling stock options
Service planning and timetable development and optioneering
Fleet planning and crew rostering
Operational readiness and test & commissioning
Rail network simulation
Contributing to delivery of projects across the whole lifecycle – from strategic demand and operations planning during feasibility studies or business case phase, through development of operational plans and requirements during procurement, and onto delivery and operational readiness.
Integrate with and/or manage project teams and help represent AtkinsRéalis in front of key clients and stakeholders, including transport agencies and railway operators.
Opportunities to support the growth of the business with project management, people management and business development opportunities as desired.
Desired Skills, Experience and Capabilities: Degree qualified in engineering, transport planning or other relevant disciplines.
Ability to manage time and workloads to deliver technical outputs across multiple projects, often to tight timescales
Ability to communicate complex ideas to non-specialists, including writing, drawing and presentation skills
Ability to engage with and represent AtkinsRéalis in front of clients and stakeholders would be advantageous
Proficiency with – or interest in and ability to develop competence in – rail operations simulation tools such as RailSys (TM) by RMCon and/or OpenTrack (TM) would be desirable
Proficiency in data interpretation, manipulation and visualization would be desirable
