We have an ambitious new Strategic Vision and need the best players on our team to help us deliver real results for the sporting sector and all Australians.About the team – the Sport Strategy and Investment team is responsible for the oversight, alignment, and leadership of strategy and investment activity across the organisation and external sport ecosystem.
We operate in a dynamic, fast-paced, and agile environment collaborating with internal and external teams across sporting organisations, governments, and key sector partners to shape and drive strategy and investment across all levels of the Australian sport system, from grassroots through to high performance.About the role – With the Brisbane 2032 Games on the horizon, and the recent launch of the National Sport Participation Strategy (Play Well) and National High Performance Sport Strategy (Win Well), there has never been a more exciting time to be part of the Australian Sports Commission.
The Senior Consultant – Sport Strategy and Investment will play an influential and impactful role in shaping and driving strategy and investment across all levels of the Australian sport system.Reporting directly to the Director, Sport Strategy and Investment, responsibilities include, but are not limited to:Establishing transparent and concise frameworks, policies, and guidelines to underpin and inform all ASC investment and resource allocation decision-making.Promoting and fostering robust financial planning and enhancing capability by providing support, oversight, analysis, and reporting on NSO programs, and managing grant programs throughout the grant program lifecycle.Managing the provision of strategic advice and investment information to key stakeholders including the ASC Executive, the ASC Board, and Minister, as required.Working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders across sporting organisations, governments, and key sector partners to ensure investment priorities and strategic outcomes improve the capability and effectiveness of Australian sport at all levels.Providing expert advice to Sports to jointly develop and challenge performance strategies and associated budget/financial spend to achieve KPIs and investment targets.Providing strategic leadership and expert advice across organisational strategies, sport strategies, and/or sector strategies to deliver impactful change and target investment for success.Engaging with NSOs to provide advice and assistance in developing their financial capability by establishing and implementing initiatives, frameworks, and guidelines (such as best-practice guidelines, training sessions, networking, and recruitment assistance).Actively promoting and role modelling the ASC values of Respect, Integrity, Teamwork, and Excellence, and contributing to positive organisational change, effective communication, and continuous improvement.About you – The successful candidate will have the following experience:Tertiary degree and/or demonstrated professional experience in business strategy, project management, finance, quantitative analysis, and/or strategic investment, preferably in a sport environment.Demonstrated ability to synthesise quantitative and qualitative data to make rational judgments, inform decision-making, and present findings aligned to key strategic outcomes.Demonstrated expertise in positively influencing internal and external stakeholders of all levels to work collaboratively with an openness to feedback and conflict management.Excellent written and oral communication skills and an ability to succinctly present information to senior executives and Boards to inform and support decision-making, particularly in relation to strategic investment.Demonstrated experience as a focused, self-motivated, and ambitious individual with an ability to work independently and as part of a team.Strong understanding of and interest in the Australian sport system, from grassroots to elite.This position is offered as a FIXED TERM position until February 2026 with the possibility of being extended or made ongoing.Why work with us?
