The Opportunity: Working with the Security and Technology Solutions team, this role is responsible for refining the design of the network for our Navy fleet, such that ship-to-shore connectivity for personnel at sea will be improved.
A Defence Security Clearance to at least NV1 is required for this role.
The role is Canberra based, availability to work at Russell Offices will be required.
Key Responsibilities: Refine and finalise design of Navy system based on existing trial results Facilitate workshops to develop requirements for the system Identify and select appropriate hardware and solutions, such as Fortigate and Cisco Catalyst Develop and establish the baseline design for the improved system Configure and test equipment, including the Netscope Gateway, for deployment Coordinate with ship staff and System Program Offices (SPOs) for installation and support Author necessary documentation, including engineering design packs and operational procedures Create support and maintenance plans, including technical, security, and operational documents Ensure all personnel meet required certifications and security clearances Comply with the Commonwealth Supplier Code of Conduct and report any significant events About you This is our desired list of qualifications and experience, but please do not be discouraged if you do not meet all of them.

Experience in systems design (ideally for Cyber accreditation) Proficiency with CISCO, Wireless LAN Controllers (WLC), Fortigate, Netskope, and Radius Protocol.
Experience performing network upgrades on Radio Access Networks (RAN) platforms.
In-depth knowledge of switching mechanisms, routing protocols, and network troubleshooting.
Expertise in virtualisation, Software-Defined Networking (SDN), and Linux OS.
Understanding of Layer-3 packet encryption, load balancing, and network security.
Ability to document network designs and lead design reviews and engineering assessments.
Experience configuring and testing network equipment for deployment.
Familiarity with the creation of technical and operational documentation, such as design packs and maintenance plans.
Proven track record in liaising with technical and operational teams for system integration and support.
