Working within a small but highly collaborative team of IR experts, and reporting to the Head of Industrial Relations Strategy, as the Senior Consultant you'll be responsible for delivering the industrial relations strategy that aligns to and delivers on NAB's Strategic Ambition, meets our legislative and compliance obligations and fosters trust and respect with our colleagues.
Along with the above you will help deliver the newly agreed Enterprise Agreement into our systems to ensure that we meet our obligations both regulatory and to our colleagues.
This role involves the provision of advice and ensuring compliance with our industrial relations framework (including NAB's Enterprise Agreement) and NAB's legislative obligations, to support the delivery of NAB's strategic ambition through fostering trust and respect with our colleagues, customers and the community.
What you will be doing
Assist with delivery and embedding the newly agreed Enterprise Agreement
Manage and provide advice in relation to NAB's IR framework, including industrial instruments, policies and guidelines
Managing parts of NAB's Enterprise Agreement strategy development, negotiations, implementation and compliance
Provide coaching, support, guidance and advice to internal stakeholders within NAB in relation to IR matters
Preparing for and represent NAB within various industrial commissions and tribunals, briefing legal representation where necessary
Develop and actively promote and manage a positive relationship with the Finance Sector Union (FSU) as the recognised representative of our colleagues
Advise and lead the business and senior managers through the resolution of disputes, including providing advice and recommendations to senior leaders on risks and commercial resolutions to matters
Supporting the development of and provide on changes that support NAB's Future of Work Program initiatives
Liaise with both internal and external stakeholders when dealing with disputes that have been referred to external legal jurisdictions and represent NAB at external legal jurisdictions and/or work closely with legal advisors who are representing NAB
What you will bring
10+ years' experience in industrial/employee relations, including specialist expertise in employment law
Experience in negotiating Enterprise Agreements and contractual terminology
Experience with determining Enterprise Agreement and legislative requirements for complex payroll systems
Experience with engaging Unions and great working knowledge of our Industrial Relations system, Acts and laws
Commercial thinking – understanding of HR strategic levers and how they drive business outcomes
Strong influencing and negotiation skills
Superior written and verbal communication skills
Ability to think broadly and innovatively to ensure a compliant response that enhances our EVP in a rapidly changing environment
