The Opportunity: Urbis has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Consultant to join our Engagement team!
In this role you will be a key member in driving growth for Urbis' engagement and strategy offer. Our Senior Consultants get the opportunity to lead at all levels – across projects, across the organisation and in our team. You will facilitate positive client outcomes, develop and deliver engagement strategies, and use your excellent communication and facilitation skills to give stakeholders and the community a voice on the places where they live, work and play. You will shape and provide strategic input into placemaking projects, policy-informing programs that create future city visions, and community development.
You will: Provide specialist advice to our clients on strategic engagement, stakeholder management and community consultation, to support strategic and statutory planning, development and infrastructure projects.
With direction from Directors and Associate Directors, manage and develop the design and delivery of tailored engagement strategies to build understanding, create local ownership and to inform sustainable decision making.
Create persuasive and engaging communications materials.
Support the Director and Associate Director in the management of the stakeholder engagement offer, including contributing to the delivery of the business and growth strategy.
Work collaboratively with specialists across Urbis in social planning, planning, urban design, heritage, strategy and policy – build an integrated offer for clients.
Write submissions, proposals and advice that accurately reflects Urbis' client's needs.
Effectively manage small to medium size projects, including scoping and costing of projects, tracking job costs and coordinating consultants and sub-consultants, when necessary.
Manage risk by identifying and raising issues which may impact fee estimates and/or timelines.
Coach and develop individuals within the team, as appropriate.
Promote the firm and its services to create thought leadership and business opportunities.
Learn and grow strategically and in practice through regular development and feedback, coaching and shadowing highly experienced leaders in community and stakeholder engagement.
About you: Tertiary qualifications in Communications, Public Policy, Arts, Social Research, Business or a related discipline.
Relevant experience within social research and policy or placemaking, property or planning sector experience.
Proven ability to manage multiple projects and produce high-quality results.
Proven experience coaching and mentoring junior team members.
Strong digital and commercial acumen.
Passion for built environment, research or managing events.
