This is a permanent full-time position commencing ASAP The Information Systems branch within the Examinations, Certification, and Testing (ECT) Directorate plays a critical role in managing and delivering key educational assessments and examinations across Western Australia. This includes the logistics of the ATAR examinations, Externally Set Tasks (EST), and NAPLAN, as well as overseeing the Online Literacy Numeracy Assessment (OLNA). With a focus on ensuring data integrity, the branch supports the development and maintenance of online examination systems, facilitates data transfer between schools and the Authority, and meets reporting requirements to uphold educational standards and recognize student achievements in Years 11 and 12.
The Role The Senior Consultant - Cybersecurity and Network is an expert role that provides specialist technical advice and proactive consultancy on cybersecurity and network management. This role supports the Manager of Information Services, delivering essential cybersecurity and network services for the Authority. The consultant will oversee the development, maintenance, and security of the Authority's information systems, including firewalls and user access monitoring, to ensure 24/7 operational integrity. Additionally, the consultant will play a key role in infrastructure planning, providing technical guidance on projects, capacity planning, and supporting information system strategies within the Information Systems Branch.
In this role, the Senior Consultant manages both day-to-day network operations and the development of long and short-term IT projects, ensuring compliance with organizational standards. This includes collaborating with the Information Systems Help Desk, liaising with project sponsors and application custodians, and participating in the on-call roster to provide essential support during the WACE exam period. The position also involves coordinating disaster recovery planning with internal and external stakeholders, ensuring continuity and robust security measures across the Authority's systems. This role requires a forward-thinking professional dedicated to cybersecurity best practices and maintaining optimal system performance.

Minimum Requirements Be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, permanent resident or have a valid visa with relevant work rights for the term of the appointment. Hold a recognised qualification in mathematics, computing or an approved equivalent and be currently registered or eligible for registration to the Australian Computer Society.
