This position sits within the Marine Permits team, under the Reef Joint Field Management Program and is responsible for assessing applications for authorities in accordance with relevant State and Commonwealth legislation associated with use and access of the Great Barrier Reef World Heritage Area (including island national parks, the Green Island Recreation Area, the Great Barrier Reef Coast Marine Park and the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park).
The main focus of this role is undertaking environmental impact assessments, client and stakeholder negotiations, problem solving, site supervision, permits compliance and use of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and systems applications to ensure sustainable use consistent with management objectives.
