Senior Conservation Officer
Full-time TemporaryDetails: The Office of the Conservator of Flora and Fauna is a small team within the EPSDD Environment, Heritage and Water (EHW) Division. The main functions of the team are to develop advice for the Conservator on matters that may impact biodiversity and the conservation estate in the ACT, prepare advice on environmental assessments and development applications to the ACT Planning Authority; and assist in the administration of the Conservator's functions under legislation.
The Office is looking for an effective communicator and organisation guru who can provide close liaison across the Environment, Heritage and Parks Division (the Division) to ensure development and environmental impact advice and decisions are consistent with ecological and environmental land management objectives of the ACT Government.
Eligibility/Other Requirements: Relevant Tertiary qualifications in environmental science or related field is highly desirableWillingness to undertake field work, work independently in remote locations and in adverse weather conditions.Notes: This is a temporary position available from 4 July 2024 to 20 December 2024 with the possibility of extension up to 12 months. A Merit Pool will be established from this selection process and will be used to fill vacancies over the next 12 months. Selection may be based on application and referee reports only.
