options available SSEN Transmission are currently seeking a Senior Consents & Environmental Manager that is highly motivated, experienced and has a genuine passion to help deliver some of the most iconic upcoming National infrastructure projects in Scotland. They will directly facilitate Scotland's ambitions to meet NetZero through connecting renewable energy and transporting it to the core centres of demand. Working under a Lead Consents & Environment Manager you will manage and mentor a small team of Consents and Environment Managers to help deliver clusters of projects. In addition, you will bring your experience and expertise in consenting and delivery to lead on specific, high profile and complex projects. All of this is delivered within a highly professional, experienced, supportive and multi-award-winning team recognised for our sector leading planning and sustainability initiatives. The main duties and responsibilities are:
Actively manage, develop, mentor and train a small team of Consents and Environment Managers and less experienced staff, supporting their individual performance and development within the wider team. Lead on Consents condition discharge, environmental licensing, the preparation of environmental contract specifications and obligations to ensure facilitation of timely project delivery. Coordination and monitoring of Contractor and SSEN environmental and consenting compliance and meeting all statutory and internal obligations. Scope, tender, award and manage multiple consultancy contracts to support the delivery of EnvCoW support services and post planning submission surveys and assessments. Develop, control and build critical external stakeholder relationships (consenting bodies, statutory authorities, key consultees), communicating the criticality of infrastructure and the project requirements.
What do I need?
To be considered for this role, we would love you to have: Demonstrable experience in managing, developing, mentoring and training a team of environmental professionals. Demonstrable project management experience and understanding of how to manage all aspects of the delivery of major projects. Ability to represent SSEN's interests externally at a senior level, with previous provable stakeholder management skills. Ideally you will have an Environmental related degree, preferably with post graduate qualification. A willingness to contribute, adapt, and learn within a busy, fast-moving team.
