Senior Compliance Officers are responsible for monitoring and managing non-compliance of home care approved providers with the Quality Standards, as well as broader legislative responsibilities under the Aged Care Act. The position will undertake evidence-based risk assessments, engage with specialists (e.g., legal and/or clinical) to provide well-informed risk proportionate and evidence-based recommendations in line with the Commission's Compliance and Enforcement Policy and Regulatory Strategy.
The preferred candidate will be capable of managing a large caseload with competing priorities to meet agreed key performance indicators. They also need to demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills, and high-level negotiation skills to communicate information coherently and concisely to diverse audiences, including working with stakeholders to achieve desired outcomes.

Compliance Case Management (Home Services) The Compliance Case Management (Home Services) section is part of the Commission's Compliance Management Group that manages providers whose poor practices and behavior present the highest risk of harm.
Under the Commission's provider supervision model, Senior Compliance Officers engage with home care providers to incentivize them to manage their performance, risks, and non-compliance with their responsibilities under the Aged Care Act 1997.
The section takes risk-based and proportionate regulatory actions using the Commission's powers where providers continue to be unwilling or unable to prevent risk of harm to older Australians and improve their performance.
The section proactively engages with the sector to gather reliable and validated data to inform the Commission's risk modeling to identify and manage risk of harm appropriately.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES Interpret and apply aged care legislation.Actively case manage providers who require closer supervision with regular engagements to ensure that required actions have been taken. Where appropriate, use regulatory powers to incentivize the required change in provider behavior and delivery of required actions.Deliver outcomes by preparing for engagements, communicating expectations clearly, and holding providers who fail to take action accountable.Use risk profiling and collated intelligence from multiple sources to inform fair, balanced, and effective risk assessments in line with the Commission's Regulatory Strategy and Risk Framework.Leverage internal specialist advice (e.g., legal and/or clinical) to ensure unbiased and defensible decisions.Prepare well-written evidence-based recommendations and regulatory notices in line with legislation.Develop and maintain key relationships with external and internal stakeholders.Support the Director by preparing and/or contributing to content for executive briefs or equivalent.Develop and mentor new and junior APS staff to build their capability.Contribute to the continuous improvement for processes, guidance, and technology for the team.ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS Key capabilities Demonstrated ability to develop a sound understanding and application of specialist advice for aged care legislation, policy, and regulatory frameworks including the Commission's Regulatory Strategy, and the Aged Care Quality Standards.Highly developed written communication skills with demonstrated ability to prepare high-quality documents, reports, and regulatory notices that are informed by evidence.Highly developed verbal communication skills with demonstrated high-level negotiation and engagement skills.Demonstrated skills in effective time management, working with competing priorities and the ability to manage a caseload effectively and accurately in line with agreed performance measure indicators.Demonstrated high-level analytical and problem-solving skills.Demonstrated ability to build, maintain, and nurture professional relationships internally and externally to foster consultation and cooperation.Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team, as well as independently. Non-ongoing opportunities may be offered up to a total maximum contract period of 2 years.
