Organisational Profile GEGAC is an Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisation based on Gunaikurnai Country in Bairnsdale, Victoria. Consisting of about 160 staff, GEGAC is a Not for Profit organisation that delivers holistic services in the areas of Primary Health, Social Services, Elders & Disability and Early Childhood Education.
GEGAC is a child safe agency and has a zero tolerance of abuse or neglect of children and young people.
Position Purpose The Connected Beginnings Senior Community Connector will support the integration of Early Childhood Maternal and Child Health and Family Support Services within school settings in our Community so that children are healthy and well prepared for school and engaging with Community and Stakeholders, providing advocacy, leading a team ensuring our services are meeting client and contractual obligations.
Key Selection Criteria Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to Aboriginal culture with the ability to liaise with and support the local community. Demonstrated capability to meet the key responsibilities of this position. Excellent interpersonal skills and proven ability to relate well to Aboriginal Families and young children. Ability/experience in coaching, mentoring and supporting families with young children. A sound knowledge of child development and key learning behaviours and the developmental needs through play and social experiences. Confidence in role modelling and providing honest feedback to parents regarding parenting skills and actions. Qualifications and Registrations Requirement (Essential or Desirable). Valid Driver's License ESSENTIAL Diploma in Community Service or Early Years Education ESSENTIAL Financial Management experience and skills ESSENTIAL A working knowledge of computers DESIRABLE A satisfactory Working with Children Check and Fit2Work Police Check ESSENTIAL A person of Aboriginal / Torres Strait Islander background DESIRABLE Proof of COVID-19 vaccinated to align with mandatory vaccination directive applying to authorised workers ESSENTIAL How to apply for this job A copy of the position description can be obtained at GEGAC reception 03 5150 0700 or by emailing ******.
