We are seeking a Senior Communications Manager - Business Partnering to join us where you will be responsible for leading the Communication team for our Defence Delivery Business Unit and working with the team and broader Communications function to develop, manage, monitor and deliver a communications strategy for the business.
Reporting to the Director of Communications and sitting on the senior leadership team, this role is responsible for actively enhancing the Defence Delivery brand and projects in Australia (and abroad as required) and advising senior management on potential reputational issues or impacts associated with business decisions and strategy.

Key Responsibilities:
Developing and delivering a Communications Strategy that supports the Defence Delivery business unit to achieve its objectives and contribute to the overarching Communications functional strategy.Providing Strategic Communications Advice to the Communications Director, Business Unit Managing Director and leadership team.Raising the profile of the Business Unit program(s), ensuring that both stakeholders and the public recognise the progress and performance of the company, and its role in delivering a critical infrastructure and defence program for the nation.Proactively managing any issues that arise from a Communications perspective that could cause reputational damage or impact project delivery.Leading the Business Unit Communications team to ensure it applies best practice in all outputs and drives innovation and creativity in its communications outputs, particularly its channel usage.Participating as a senior member of the Australian Communications leadership team.Working collaboratively with other team members to ensure effective delivery of all objectives, ensuring appropriate input into planning and resourcing of key activities in conjunction with the Engagement and Media teams.Mentoring and coaching all team members within the function in the delivery of their roles.Ensuring that relevant Communications Policies, Guidelines and practices are applied in the Business Unit in accordance with the Operational Framework.Developing and owning media relationships relevant to the Business Unit, including developing media releases.Supporting business winning activities through creation and delivery of campaigns.Responsibility for agreeing key messages and public positions on key issues in consultation with senior management.Effectively manage the functional budget.Developing and maintaining positive relationships with internal, external and customer stakeholders.About YOU You'll have: Extensive communication experience, with proven capability in a variety of roles at a senior level.Experience of working in a stand-alone business unit in a leadership role.Experience in managing communications for a major infrastructure project.Experience in both internal and external communications.Strong understanding of Government Relations.Demonstrated success in leading a high performing team.Previous experience in the Defence Industry (highly desirable).Relevant tertiary qualifications and/or demonstrated relevant or professional experience and training in communications/engagement.Computer literacy, with intermediate knowledge of MS Suite.We believe in hiring for potential, we know that some candidates hesitate if they don't tick all the boxes.
