Directorate:  Office of the General Manager   Department: Communications & Events Employment Status: Temporary, full-time  Employment Arrangement:  35 hours per week with access to Council's flexible working arrangements Salary Range: Grade 20 $115,206.00 - $123,396.00 per annum, (dependent upon experience)  plus 11.5% Superannuation Council Overview Strathfield Council (Council) is a medium sized Council located in Sydney's Inner West.
The area of the Council comprises approximately 14 square kilometres and has an estimated population of 46,000 residents, which is growing at 2.5-3% annually.
Based on NSW Government projections, the population will increase to over 80,000 by 2036.
About the Role Due to a vacancy, Council is seeking a motivated Senior Communications & Events Coordinator on a temporary, full-time basis for a period of 11 months.
The Senior Communications and Events Coordinator supports the Manager, Communications and Events to enhance Council's image and message through strategic communications and events.
The role is required to develop, project manage and implement a range of communication, media, marketing and event projects to promote, support and engage the local community.
The role also acts as the Second in Command of the department with responsibility to advise the Executive and Council on communication and media matters and make decisions that may impact other areas of Council.
About You The successful candidate will have: A tertiary qualification in Communications, Events or relevant work experience.
Extensive experience in communications using a wide range of communications tools including websites, printed materials, social media.
Demonstrated advanced knowledge of advertising, marketing and public relations principles and practices, along with experience working with media at both local and state levels.
Strong ability to research and prepare speech notes for a range of speakers and topics.
Extensive experience in planning and managing large scale events including logistics, budgeting and contractor management.
Demonstrated excellent inter-personal and communication (both written and oral) skills to write complex and detailed reports, proposals and submissions.
Particularly in writing copy for media releases, websites, advertising, columns and various publications.
Excellent organisational/time management and planning skills.
Advanced computer skills in Microsoft office applications.
Demonstrated ability to work reliably, independently and in a team environment.
Proven ability to handle confidential and sensitive issues and liaise effectively with internal and external customers and stakeholders, including members of the media and elected officials.
Hold a current driver licence.
