This individual will spearhead strategic partnerships with key suppliers and manage procurement activities to align with organisational goals. Additionally, the role involves supporting the wider Commercial team in contractual review and negotiation and contributing to business analysis efforts to enhance decision-making and operational efficiencies.KEY DUTIES AND TASKSDuties may include some or all the following:Strategic Supplier Relationship ManagementIdentify, evaluate, and select suppliers based on their capability to meet the company's standards and strategic objectives.Develop and implement supplier management programs that enhance supplier performance, reliability, and engagement.Conduct regular performance reviews with strategic suppliers to discuss challenges, performance metrics, improvement plans and cost-down initiatives.Foster collaborative relationships with suppliers to innovate and co-develop products or solutions that provide competitive advantage.Lead the development and execution of procurement strategies that support business goals, focusing on cost reduction, risk management, and innovation.Analyse global market trends and adapt procurement strategies to mitigate risks and capitalise on market opportunities, including but not limited to electriciation / EV.Collaborate with internal stakeholders (e.g.operations, finance, purchasing and senior executives) to ensure procurement strategies align with overall business strategies and operational requirements.Business Analysis and Reporting:Perform in-depth analysis of purchasing and general business / financial data to identify trends and opportunities across the wider MLG business. Focus on strategic spending, market dynamics, and operational efficiencies to drive business improvement resulting in cost reduction and/or margin growth.Present findings and strategic recommendations to senior management to inform strategic decision making, policy and strategy.Manage the full RFQ lifecycle, from the initial stage to completion, which includes conducting supplier briefings, assessing proposals, and making final selections.Develop and refine RFQ documents that clearly define scope, specifications, and evaluation criteria to prospective suppliers.Coordinate with technical and quality assurance teams to ensure all proposals meet the company's technical and quality requirements.Negotiate commercial and contractual terms with suppliers to secure favourable conditionsContract and Commercial Management Support:Assist with complex contract negotiations, leveraging market insights and cost models to secure favourable outcomes for MLG.Working alongside MLG's legal counsel, provide advice and guidance on contract strategies, potential risks, and legal considerations.Help manage commercial relationships, ensuring contractual compliance and effective management of commercial disputes.Business Development:Where appropriate, assist in preparing business development proposals for response to market RFQ. Utilise procurement insights and commercial analysis to enhance the value proposition offered to potential clients and partners.Provide assistance in preparing bid documents, ensuring they meet both the strategic objectives of the business and client expectations.Conduct detailed pricing analysis to ensure competitive and profitable pricing strategies. Analyse costs, market trends, and supply chain logistics to recommend pricing models that align with business goals and market conditions.Assist in the review of contractual documents and business development materials to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with legal and regulatory standards.Reporting and Compliance ManagementAct as a key stakeholder in managing MLG's vendor management system.Work with the IT, Purchasing and Finance teams to oversee the integration of supplier data into the system to maintain accurate and current information, facilitating effective decision-making and strategy formulation.Coordinate with IT, Purchasing and Finance teams to enhance system functionalities and user experience, thereby improving efficiency and transparency in supplier interactions.In consultation with the Finance team, lead initiatives to train relevant stakeholders on the effective use of the system, promoting its adoption across the business.Develop and manage comprehensive reporting systems to meet ethical sourcing and other regulatory compliance requirements.Ensure timely and accurate submission of reports related to ethical sourcing, environmental impact, and supplier diversity initiatives.KEY SKILLS AND PERSONAL ATTRIBUTESLead and Negotiate: Demonstrated ability to lead complex negotiations and manage significant supplier relationships.
